3000w cyclone What am I in for

Dudes I ordered a cyclone 3000w mid drive
I am putting it on a Gary Fisher Cake3 mountain bike
I am going to run the 52v 20ah battery
What am I in for
any thoughts would be great

You in for an incredible amount of torque. However, I wonder if you will have room for the battery.

That is a very nice bike, but is not a great e bike candidate. The horizontal rear shock right in the middle of the triangle is going to make mounting a cyclone or a battery tough. Rear seat post battery mounts suck. If you mount it there, you will not like it, throws the weight of a great bike way off. Bottom line, some bikes shouldn't be ebikes! Go shred some singletrack with the Gary fisher, and find a more suitable ebike candidate. My $.02 FWIW.

I have other ebikes and I had the cake 3 set up with a hub motor 800w 36v 15ah bat.
It did ok but I want to see what the whole 3000w 52v 20ah thing is all about
It is winter in my neck of the woods the motorcycle business is Done, and out of need just for something
to do until next summer I started building ebikes. A lot cheaper than building Motorcycles
I appreciate your feed back I think the cake 3 is going to be a good platform to work with I like the suspension and the quality
of the welds, the brakes need to be up graded to some hydraulics and it would be cool to up grade the front end
with a set of triple tree inverted forks and what ever it takes to
make it as safe and semi ride able as possible I can make that happen also.

With enough determination I am of the opinion ANY bike can be made to adapt to the Cyclone. I was told my Wal-Mart Mountain Bike was not a good candidate for an e-bike yet it has performed well! My only regrets are no suspension other than what I plan to do for a spring mounted new seat. I also wish I would have gone with the single chain ring since going 1-6 gears can easily lift the front wheel in 1st and reach ~35 in 6th gear. I tried a smaller rear sprocket to get a faster top end speed but the 6 speed chain kept skipping over sprocket teeth. :(

I read someplace that small rear cogs like an 11 tooth are prone todo this with muscle power. Can you go up a few teeth somewhere up front so you can use larger sprockets in back?

I swapped out my original dual for a triple (44-44-32) I suppose a larger one is available somewhere. I would also have liked to seen a concave style chain-ring. This would have helped with chain alignment which caused some delay. (Ended up cutting 3/8" off one side of my BB!)

Update :
Dudes the 3000w came in today I got it mounted up and wired I used a 36v 15ah battery out of my Wal-Mart mountain bike with a 800w hub I love that bike I have a blast on that thing
But the hard tail is a little narlie for a minute there I thought I was riding my Husqvarna man.
I went with the Cake3 because I wanted to try out the suspension thing and see if it smooth things out, I picked it up in perfect condition for $300.00 bucks and being the motor head that I am I just had to try the 3000w and able to shift gears thing out
especially when I have read that it will power wheeles O be still my beating heart
There is a lot to do that whole mounting thing has to improve boys we need to make it bullet proof
I don't have a battery at this point I am waiting for the lunar to get the 52v 20ah battery back in so I can give them some money
I suppose that I will be working on this thing all the time but I enjoy that after being a motorcycle mechanic for 50 years I still like
to take em apart and put them back tougher

Update I came up with a torque strap to help stabilize the motor also used long bolts all the way through the mounts
for the bottom bracket like some one else suggested.
It seems to be a lot stiffer and does not move with the 36v battery
That's not to say it will work with the 52v battery
The most time taken was to get the motor centered so the sprockets lined up
everything is smooth and looking good The throttle that came with the kit will not work with my bike
the shifters hit will have to get a different throttle thinking a full throttle like on a motorcycle
this will keep me busy this winter
Does any one know when luna will get back in stock the 52v 20ah square
Tried to call them but could not hook up with any one

Put the battery on your want list on the Luna site, and they will notify you when they get them in. They can be a bit unpredictable with some stock, but you can't beat their prices. When you do get a hold of them, there pretty friendly.

Greetings This is what I have found out so far
When you build a ebike the first thing you should buy is the battery and a proper charger it is the heart of the system.
For this 3000w kit be ready to spend $700.00 plus.
I have been testing the 3000w set up with the 36v 15ah battery out of my 800w hub set up
Man that is like whistling Dixie the 3000w on the test dyno sucks the power like right now
The Battery just does not have the stuff to keep up with the 40a controller you need a 50a continuous out put battery
to make it happen.
The throttle that comes with the kit just wont do for my set up the shifters hit and you cant change gears
The whole mounting system needs work but it is very doable, the problem that I can see is the two little
aluminum brackets that mount to the motor and the arms from the bottom bracket that needs to be one solid cnc piece
I will treat this like a motorcycle build
build it test it break it make it stronger and test it again
all in all I really like the kit and when it gets sorted out I think that it will be a great bike
it will get used about 2000 to 3000 miles a year and it needs to be tough and reliable
Todays agenda is to clean up the torque strap and extend the wire harness coming out of the motor
it needs to be longer to be able to reach the controller where I have it mounted

Everything worked as it should shifting good
Even with the 36v battery it hit 20mph quick and climbed a steep hill no problem
with the right battery this thing will be awesome Totally Stoked now

Got the new full throttle in today installed it works great
the one that came with the kit did not do the job the shifters hit it and you could not shift

Here is a shot of the full throttle style connectors.
I had to cut the old connector off the throttle that came with Luna kit and solder it to the new throttle
I also had to make a jumper for the on/off wire so it would work in the future it will be hooked up to a switch
but for now getting it to work was the main focus.
I hope that I can get it done before February, If I can I will load it up and drive to some place warm and test it out for a week or so.
For any one considering this kit it is not so bad as far as the install goes
I think it is a great set up so don't let the install run you off.
If any one needs any help feel free to give me a call and I will be glad to share whatever I know
This is what I do every day all day.
In the winter I spend a lot of time working with people doing motorcycle builds
so why should this be any different.
