Dudes it is with a heavy heart that I come forward with this news But I thought that instead of dropping out of site and leaving the 3000k heads hanging
that old Dr.Watts owed everyone a explanation.
I am killing the Gary Fisher Cyclone 3000w WTF thread
After careful deliberation I have decided it is not for me. The bike was bought with the intent to use it as a demo bike for a mid drive system
    that has not worked out.
But it has been a great ride 2000 plus view's for the What am I in for thread not to shabby for that short of time period
    Lets re cap :
First of all I believe give credit where credit is due and if you are going to be of help to other ebikers be straight up and honest tell about your findings
The good the bad and the ugly don't manipulate the test data report the facts so we all can learn from each other.
First off my man Rix Ryds Guru I come to you humble and contrite dude when you said in the beginning that the Cake 3 was not a good candidate for a ebike
You were right ! The battery placement was impossible, if you were going to run the Cyclone at 3000w
You need 72v that's a big battery. where are you going to put it on that bike and have the bike still be functional I don't do the back pack thing
I am glad now that Luna Was out of stock on the battery that I wanted for that bike 52v 20ah cause now I would have a battery that I don't need, instead I
did buy the triangle 52v 24ah battery from luna that I installed on another bike the GF hard tail
What I learned is inside the frame is the spot best for low cg and balance,( the triangle battery is totally awesome) I am totally freaked I have never had a Battery that Cool.
The cyclone 3000k kit is great and I have respect for it but it needs work, I came up with all the fixes that I would need to make it bullet proof just to realize that now that I have fixed that weak link in the chain
it is on to The next weak link in the chain, the bicycle chain and rear cassette, I would be ripen them out and that would be a total drag. I evaluated and talked to some smookin hot cnc hot rod friends and I don't want to spend that kind of money to totally heal the cyclone The risk to recover that kind of investment it to Hi for me
The funny part is I never did like the Cake 3 I was never comfortable on it to me it felt like a motorcross bike way too tall I am old and don't need that.
Hard core Off road riding ended for me years ago when I raced motorcross I still enjoy a dirt road or easy trail but nothing I would need a full suspension bike for.
So my thought was to get the best lightest well equipped mountain bike I could afford put a big motor on it and go out and kick some ass well as you can see I ain't kickkin any ass.
In the 60's we did that a lot with the early muscle cars broke a lot of parts tore up a lot of stuff making more power.
That whole build was emotionally compromised I thought the bike looked great and Ifelt that the battery and motor combo was and still is awesome but things never seemed to jive
Thanks to Fun With Bikes who to my knowledge is the one who first said WTF's up with the bottom bracket and discovered the bearing problem, dude you did us all a favor on that one.
The other thing that started to make me think about was the noise the Mid drive makes not that that is a bad thing I have race bikes Supermoto class that sound like top fuel cars
But when it comes to taking a break and relaxing or running moonshine with my brother on the back I want things to be quiet listen to the birds hear the wind feel the sun all at 10mph can you tell I live out in the sticks, can you hear the banjo music.
But My 1500 w / 2600w max / 35mm magnets / aluminum stator support / 40 amp sine wave programmable controller hub set up with the Luna 52v24ah 50 amps continuous 70 amps burst is silent and I have fallen in love with that, I have been seduced by the dark side DD
And now to top it all off the Dog Jerry Lee who is channeling Carol Shelby is telling me to Build the Death Trike Billy Build the Death trike Billy this is now my new quest
Also if any one needs any Cyclone Parts I will be selling my whole kit or parting it out
So now I am passing on the torch to Fun With Bikes who is doing a great job in providing and documenting info about the Cyclone, you will now continue with Buying / Breaking / buying more making better
and breaking again thing I think that is what engineers do Thankx to all who have kept me company on this thread and made my winter a lot nicer Will Ride / Dale H / Calfee 20
Peace be to all Live long and prosper

You guys really need a backstory. Too bad, "As a lad I used to run moonshine in water bottles for my daddy is already taken" :)
Dude you could not tell our back story you don't want to know but it wasn't moonshine

    Greetings R64
How ya liking your 3k so far
I have been messing around with mine for a while now I have found a few bugs that I want to work out
But if I can pull it off it should be a killa electric dirt bike
This thread is more of a BS spot for 3k heads it is too loose to have any scholastic value
but when a bunch of hot rodders get together with a common goal I guarantee ya shit gets done
And we can tell each other Giant lies about how fast and how far we can go on the mighty 3k.

Now that my Hub motor build is done I can get back to my Cyclone build
I still need to address the chain ring issue and get a battery for it
then it will be ready to go I look forward to getting this bike done

Tacking a close look at the chain line running the motor and shifting the gears on the test stand
It is evident that with just one chain ring you really cant use all the gears on the cassette
on the big gears, hill climbing gear the chain line is so far off it will throw the chain
If you are going to run the stock cyclone chain ring make sure you order one with three rings
that way the ring next to the drive sprocket the one that goes to the motor will be used for mid range and speed
then the smaller one next to it will work for the hill climbing bigger gears on the cassette
I will wait for luna to come up with a 3 ring tick and use it
This build will take some time and I don't mind that I just don't want to demo the bike and have it not work right
    or worse break parts

    Greetings will ride
I did not make that mount I found it on line and as far as a market yes there is one they sell for $100.00 and they are sold out
it is just like the really great luna stuff they are sold out, people know what the good shit is all about,
when you have a great product you don't have to sell it , it sell's it self
as far as Paris with no underwear I am justing checking out all the places that rent ebikes and see how they are doing
the dude I talked to at Hilton Head had 10 cheap ebikes and he rents them non stop he is going to build more to meet the demand.
    Cheers my friend.

That mount looks great. From all the kluges I have seen there should be a market for that.

So it looks like you are looking for some Paris Hilton Head.

calfee good to hear from ya hope all is well it looks like that battery is awesome I got the luna 52v 24ah triangle battery and put it on my hub build and that battery is a work of art the quality is over the top I backed off the cyclone until the 52v 20ah battery comes back in stock but I still need to do some upgrades to the cyclone to raise the bar on it a little cheers Bill.

Ok back to the cyclone 3000w set up
I am glad at this time that luna is out of stock on the 52v 20ah rectangle battery
This has given me time to take a hard look at the whole set up and come to some realities
The motor is awesome 3000w 4hp potential but
The mounting system and the front chain ring set up are wimpy,
if you are going to run a 36v 15ah battery
they might hold up for a while
but if you open up a can of 52v 20ah whoop ass they will fail
if I had to do it all over again I would have bought the components separately
and put together a better set up it will cost more but that is where I am headed now anyway
in my opinion the pro set up would be
    the 3000w cyclone
    Luna tick
    custom motor mount
    40a 100v 3000w sine wave programmable controller
    Luna 52v 24ah battery
that is where I am headed at this time
    Cheers Bill
