Seems like you could fabricate a battery to fit the space where your controller is mounted in that nice new bag. Then perhaps mount the controller vertically behind the seat, unless of course it would interfere with a flashing red tail light which is highly recommended for night time riding. That way your battery pack would be better protected.
East creek that space with the new pretty $7.00 bag is too small
now that I know a little more about the battery thing I found out
to build the battery that I need it will take over 100 individual cells
and at 3/4 inch in diameter that is going to take up some space
onward through the fog
After taking everything into consideration I think for me the best bet is to go back to the original plan
and buy the recommended Luna 52v 20ah battery pack that Luna says will work great for this set up
When they come in I will get one and call it a day and enjoy this thing
Merry Christmas to you as well Green Werks, saw the dog vid on another link. The straps on that mid-drive are pretty strong looking, kinda militaryish if you will. As soon as funds permit, mid drive will be my next build.
That Panasonic 52 v. 20 ah is the specs of my pack but I have it in the triangle. ?Wouldn't you know the price is now down $ 50,00, Life is good and it just gets better. I'll bet that cyclone 3k is going to crank under the lash of 52 voltssssss.
Will Ride I just hope that I will get some good distance at 12 to 15 mph
That is what I am looking for
Dale H I have a walmart mountain bike with a 36v 15ah 800w hub motor and that thing is a blast
I built this bike over the winter to keep my self busy and try to stay out of trouble
The motorcycle business dies around here over the winter then in the spring everything picks back up
I hope to do some ebike conversions this summer that's why I built two different kinds
one hub drive and the other mid drive they will be used for demo rides to see if I can drum up some business
I never thought I would say this but It is a lot more fun working on ebikes than motorcycles
I will be surprised if you will be doing 12 to 15. With the kind of boost you will have available you will have to concentrate just to keep it from going into orbit! I think you will be getting some decent mileage if you are not hotrodding,
I am not surprised that you like elec more than gas. Elec is clean and quiet, to work on and to use. I went crazy with electric rc helis. I would have never gotten into it with the stink and the mess and the noise and the smoke of gas motors. With modern LiPo's they have the same performance as the stinkers.
Does your other bike have PA or is it throttle only?
Yep, e-bikes are a blast, plus they are environmentally better than gas burners. Win - win, IMHO. Mine is an old Schwinn Ranger 2.6 F/S wit a 1000 watt 48 volt hub drive. 48 volt 20 ah pack from Luna carries me the 27 miles one way, then I recharge at work and head back. A lot of hilly terrain here in Chattanooga area, so I think it does really well. Top speed so far is 31 mph on flat ground s handles like an old trail bike lol. Having too much fun with this whole thing!!!! Ride on.....
Will Ride the hub motor has a PA I just never put it on
Something in me I guess the motorcycle thing I like the manual throttle
I wont be hot rodding the 3k
what I have found is on the motorcycle you can't just putt around at 10 to 15 mph
people get pissed blow their horn and want you to get out of the way going that slow.
But 10 mph is great for site seeing and no heavy wind in your face
on the ebike you can just tool around and people just go around you
you can go on the bike path and on the sidewalks around here any way
If traffic gets crazy I just get off the road and go on the side walk
I like it much less stress a very rejuvenating ride
If I want to hot rod this is my tool for that
Well off to the metal yard you guys have a great day
