Dudes....I just ordered a 3D printer. With FWB's mill and GW's shop we should be able to manufacture anything imaginable. This one will do 8" x 8" x 8" (nice) and do it in abs which is the tougher, superior plastic. It was too funny. Friday night I had ordered a smaller machine that would only do pla plastic ( more brittle, less strong ). It was inexpensive and had good reviews. I figuired it would get me into the groove even though it was not what I wanted in the end. Surprize! Something told me to go to the XYZ website Saturday morning. First window pops up. Surprize box deal. Free printer with purchase of 12 spools of filament. So for less money I am getting a superior machine and a huge supply of filament. Obviously it is an older design, but I have read that with better software running it, it can do great things. They obviously ran the deal to clear out the least popular filament colors. The color selection was limited. Like I care.
Winders are finally in. The last one on Friday. That was one of the biggest PITA jobs I have ever done. Really. Those frames had to change shape/angles in three dimensions. But for $200 and selling my soul for two weeks I have $3000 worth of operable, screenable winders. The pallets are an old futon we have been storing/hauling around for 17 years and collecting dust in the basement. The wiff thought of it. Save me a ton of work doing beds. A mod here, nip and tuck there.......

including extra front stock chain ring with new BMX chain
extra new cyclone controller already done the BB extra bearing fix
ready to go
Dude the CA is a tuners dream you can set up your system any way you want.1 Photo

congrats on the mini mill FWB and WR are their winders in the new ride
I scored a CA and been spending a lot of time with it and the controller getting use to
re programing and changing the settings in the controller and the CA
The CA is out of site it is really a cool instrument
Cheers.1 Photo

You guys are killing me.
Always wanted to learn to fly a plane.... Had to satisfy myself with jump out of them. My early youth was misspent as an Army Ranger.
Just bought a mini-mill so I can better fabricate the bit and bobs that break :)

Got it!
GW - I am going to get one of those. Carry it on my trip and use it to tow my van to the next service station if The Ford breaks down.
and the pool inside.
Hang Gliding with DH I am down for that, I am a pilot my brother use to cut the wood and I would pile it, my favorite Byrd to mess around in is the beloved 1941 Piper J3 cub
dude now we are talking about flying, Stick and rudder, pilot sets in the back seat hand prop no electric other than the mags, the gas gauge is a cork and a coat hanger,
Magnetic compass RPM, turn and ball indicator, altimeter air speed indicator, man flying really makes my pupils dilate nothing like putten around 1000 feet AGL with the door and window open
and looking down at the earth and what a truly magnificent creation it is. enough of the flying thing I was drift in off their.
If I could find the right sprocket for the cyclone to match the chain on the scooter I would put that pig on their or take the gear box off and spin the rear wheel straight off the motor.
Mide as well that is about all it will get used for or may be get a nice piece of wood to mount it on and then set it on the coffee table.
Get a 50 amp controller and a 52v 20ah square and call it a day That scooter is 1000w 36v as it is it will hit 23mph and I have gone 17 miles on it with bat to spare.
it is a blast to ride but people on the bike path hate it, they make faces shake their heads and say things like hey that is not legal here
and that is while I am going 4mph flowing my wife while she is jogging so I can pace her, people are soo narrow minded and totally afraid of any thing
other than what they believe is normal. What a boring life that must be, may be that's why they all have that WTF look on their faces.
Cheers my brothers and for the astronomical event of the century.

After a few dozen miles of riding in different areas, I don't think I watch the "dash" as much as I used to now that I'm more in tune with the ride.
It is a fun personal challenge to see how well i can conserve, or kill, my watt hours/mile...
Overall, as a relative newbie, I'm glad I got the CA. Many advised me during my build not to bother with the CA 3. I think b/c I wouldn't get much out of it on the Cyclone, but memory is fuzzy...

I think that a CA might be a useful addition to a completed bike or for someone that wants a complete dash (which is probably 95% of consumers). For my work in progress bikes I don't usually use them. Maybe it is just old habits, but I prefer to pay attention to how a bike sounds and feels rather than look at instrumentation. I expect putting 3000 Watts through a bicycle is going to cause wear and stress on the bike.
My First car was a 13 year old 1972 Plymouth valiant. I had to top off the oil and antifreeze every time I put in gas. But it got my friends around for 3 years… I learned a lot trying to keep it running.
I tried the new controller a few times. It looks promising.
Yes, I looked at the sick bike parts. I even tried to redraw their design in solidworks to run a structural analysis. But, CAD seems to be a young man’s game :(
That why I have gotten so distracted with test gear. As the market grows with new consumers, marketing BS can become more important than performance. I think it might be useful to consumers to set up a little lab in the garage to test to see how various motors and batteries perform rather than depending on manufacturing hype.
Currently working on a battery tester that can handle a constant power up to 3kW (the current has to gradually increase to match the voltage decrease) so we can test reproducibly test batteries under high performance ebike conditions. The tester logs voltage and current with 1% accuracry each second so we can get a precise capacity in kW hours.
