    Help me figure out the best way to mount my massive huge battery

    Hello,
    So I just finished installing a Schuck 1000watt kit on my 29" 2015 Walmart Mongoose MTB.

    Now I've got to come up with a scheme to mount the Mountain of a battery.
    It measures 11" x 5.5" x 3.75" so a bit on the large size, but it's what I have.

    Here's a photo of my bike. Any suggestions to mount this battery?
    I thought about a rear rack.......but didn't really want to put all that weight (motor, hub drive and me) all on the rear wheel.
    I thought about in the frame ahead of the seat.....won't fit.
    I thought about in a back pack.....but that would get heavy after a while.

    My only remaining thought is building a custom basket / holder on the front....which I dread because that puts the battery in the most likely spot to get damaged in a crash.

    So can you offer and suggestions? (other than get a smaller battery)

    If it were me and I could do a rear rack very securely, not always easy on a rear suspension, then that would be the way I would go weight be damned

    You just don't have enough room in the triangle which would be optimal

    No way I'd even consider a backpack for many reasons - weight and comfort (riding any distance would be very uncomfortable and fatiguing) at the top but also safety and needing long very thick wires and a way to disconnect a high current connection - preferably quickly

      If you do mount the battery on the back, be aware I have broke two rear racks that way. I had a 15s9p battery on the back nothing else. Just reinforce the rack and inspect the welds monthly for fatigue.

        15s9p is a really big battery - that beast must weigh ~7.5kg

        I have a simple rack and have carried a 6.5kg battery in one pannier and that much in gear and water in the other with no issues but it is a hard tail

        Mine looks like this

          I think periodic inspections are a good idea.

          I wonder if the durability of the rear rack has anything to do with whether or not the bike has full suspension (or at least on the rear?
          Mine does, which means the battery rack may take more jolts and shocks.

          I would think that no suspension means that while the entire bike may jolt around a bit more, it's not concentrated on the rear wheel / frame assembly like it might be if the rear has suspension.

            My battery weighs in at 14lbs or 6.35kg.

            Here is the mounted battery and bike 99% ready to ride. Just a few minor things to do remaining.
            First test ride might be tomorrow (weather dependent)
