The only display that I know of that is compatible with the MP5 is the BAC-601. Do not get an earlier one made for the MP4 as it will not work on the MP5. And with that installed I still like my Bayite for battery information.

I like the cable that the manufacturer uses. But was not able to find a good alternative. It was suggested to try and ask the manufacturer for some at the time. Which I failed to do. You will need 5 wire that comes from the lower (motor) harness for the display. And 5 wire for the throttle from the upper harness. Some like me have used network cable for wiring extensions... also usb cable, and phone wire for lighting. :-O If you find some OEM wire... LET ME KNOW! :-) If money is no object... a cannibalized replacement harness might do.

Should note that with a Bluetooth Dongle, typical display readings can be seen on (some) Android smart phone devices. As well as being able to change controller parameters. Dependability and connect ability (devices supported) is some times hit or miss.
What got me thinking about this was that just recently an IOS app has been released. Which looks at this time to be a bit buggy, and doesn't allow programming... yet. But a step forward for the Apple fanbase. (loooooong time coming, save those old Iphones and Ipads… :-))

Any information about this anyone can comment on, I have a MPV5? I would like to build my own cable. the Wiring out for the Harness you plug the GM MP Programming Cable Appears to be the same as a USB wiring Pinout, I don't want to fry my bike. Has anyone used they're programing cable with windows, see that it appears it comes up as a USB Device at all? I believe the BT Dongle is just a USB Device with they round plug to match the others. I am a Advanced Computer Tech, I am sure I COULD the small motor harness plug, convert that plug (the one you use for the bluetooth dongle or USB Cable). Into a Female USB Plug, and then buy and use a USB extension cable to plug direct into the computer. Anyone want to comment? 5v+ DC 5v - T+ R- Ground. Just need to figure out the correct wiring. I think if i remember correctly usb 1.1/2.0 (which it has to be at least 2.0 but it wouldn't matter persay) I am a big rusty with my electronics bench work. I have worked in electronics specialist (off for disability for 12 years however mostly install for most of those years. I wanted to post this before I attempted it because I dont want to fry anything out. Anyone with a USB Programming Cable, can you trace the wires and which pins come out to the USB Plug Side

Does the GM MPV5 Display Settings that you change on it. tire size modes etc. I was told when you power off the bike those settings are all reset for the display each power down?? is this true, or is this like a small internal replaceable battery in the display to hold the custom settings that the person I heard this issue from they were not aware of etc

Anyone Comment. Yes I have Googled this and Tried ES

          Hi lexo4632,
          And welcome to the forum!

It is not as simple as a plain USB connection. The communication dongle incorporates a TTL converter. Above my pay grade I'm afraid. Others have made one but typically it's recommended to just buy one.

****Please note: The Magic Pie and Bafang programming cables are different, and can not be interchanged.****

This is the one I purchased for my MP5...

If not, this will give you the pin-outs on the harness connector. (It's the 5 pin below main 10 pin connector on left)

          Programming... it's a wonderful thing!

          Best of luck...

Here is the BAC-601 manual link...
            https://www.goldenmotor.com/e-Bike-D...er%20Guide.pdf

It stores the set parameters, I don't know how this is done, I'm thinking a flash memory perhaps. But it does not keep your current trip time, average speed, or trip distance. But does keep a running total of distance traveled. (odometer) It will also start with the display backlight off. I really like the wired speedo. But with my 52 volt nominal battery, the battery display is a bit off. (see my build link in my signature below for more details...) But it's watt meter seems to be in the ball park. And hopefully I'll never need the error code function... ;-) Although I see it working when I switch power off to my throttle while working on the bike with main power on. (error code #2)

FYI, Paxtana came up with a link to Higo connectors that also includes some black PVC cable up to 6 wire. Something I plan to try when needed...

              Thanks Pax!
