Andersons, BBSHD and Shark Packs and checking the polarity

Hi Guys, after receiving your kit and battery its easy to be impatient and make mistakes.

This thread is about ensuring that the wiring for your BBSHD kit and battery are the correct polarity.

After receiving your kit and motor the first thing to do is to check the correct polarity between the motor and the shark pack.

The motor and the battery both come from different factories so you can not assume that they are wired for the correct polarity.

Using a multi-meter also is also recommended as well.

As you can see in the below photo if the Andersons were pushed together this would be reverse polarity and both Anderson contacts would spark and require replacement. Click image for larger version Name:	20161111_141413.jpg Views:	1 Size:	169.9 KB ID:	22211

Below is the procedure for swapping the Andersons so you have the correct polarity.

    1. In this situation you would swap one set of Anderson's. I do this try sliding them apart. If they're being stubborn then use a small screw driver to prize them apart.

    2. Its then simple to swap the black and red Andersons over. As you can see in the below photo they side together.

Note: The reds now on the left.

    3. Now just double check that Reds to Red and Blacks to Black. This is the correct polarity.

    4. Now its safe to push the Andersons together. Click image for larger version Name:	20161111_142115.jpg Views:	1 Size:	523.2 KB ID:	22214

    Hi Guys

This section is on checking the Polarity prior to powering up your kit.

A couple of things to do is to make sure the Andersons are red to red and black to black.

If they are red to black and black to red then this is reverse polarized and there will be a large spark when plugged in.

This may cause the Battery BMS to trip.

Photos to follow .with multimeter and how to ensure the polarity is correct.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure everything is correct before hooking up my kit.
