Picking these locks is very easy so clearly that's where you start

My best guess is that it would be expensive to re-key and maybe not worth it... Voile straps could most likely make it secure and might be a good idea regardless. I don't think the locks do much to prevent theft anyway, with sharks it's silly easy to just steal the battery mount and all...

Hello! May I join the lost battery key club? I've just bought a great used bike, but the previous owner lost the battery key. As best I can tell, it's a Reention Shark 2.5 case. The lock is labeled A029.

The battery slide is stiff enough that we'll have to pick the lock to get it to a locksmith. I see on another thread that Toyota Cole T020 blanks might fit Shark battery cases, but I have no key to copy.

    Any suggestions?

Lots of folks (including myself) have great success with these: https://www.voilestraps.com/

Thanks, It is not locked now. I'll have to figure a way to secure it for riding as it sits under the seat on a recumbent trike. It is only about 4 inches between battery and ground.

I'll check but I doubt I have one

As mentioned they're silly easy to pick if need be

If you can't find the proper key you can use it unlocked as long as you strap it to the bike which you should do anyway

Only way I know of to "replace" the lock is to get a new case... they are inexpensive though (last time I bought one it was ~$20-30) and not hard to swap

Hi all, I just picked up a used Catrike that was configured by Utah Trikes. The Shark style battery came without the key to lock onto the receiver. The key number is 011 stamped on the face. Anyone have a source for this key?

I know this is an old thread, but does anybody happen to have a key marked 021? We have also lost keys and would happily pay somebody to make copies.

Decades ago I was traveling in CA and some buddies wanted to go out shooting and my gun was all legal and locked in a box with one of those master tumbler padlocks but I had forgotten the key... Asked my buddy to see if his sis or ma had some hair pins and amazed them when I opened the lock in about two seconds - took me longer to bend the hair pins... they accused me of faking it so I locked it again and showed them it was real Click image for larger version

It's a good skill to have... When I was out with my real estate guy last summer looking for shops he couldn't get into one of them and he asked me if I could pick locks... I sort of hmm'ed and haw'ed, said I might have seen it once or twice... he pulled out a lock pick set and I couldn't resist at that point... opened it in about five seconds... didn't move into that spot but if I had I would have replaced those locks!

    Got it, thanks for checking!

abrightmd, mine definitely has a D in front of the numbers. I checked my other pack and it has a letter in front as well. They also have a spring gate that covers the key slot. Must be different lock types. Sorry.

From your note above, it looks like you were able to pick the lock. Good for you!

As suggested by AZguy up there, I just picked the lock with no skills and 3m of YouTube watching using a paperclip and a piece of metal from a pen cap. Crazy. Great suggestion that just saved me a lot of grief.

I'd love to someday be able to lock that thing with a key again.
Below is my lock. I don't see a letter designation. If anyone has the same lock code and would be willing to send me a key, please let me know, I'll get it copied and send it back or follow whatever protocol you prefer.

    Thanks again.

I don't see a letter designation but I'll post a picture down below. If you think it looks similar and it's not too much hassle I'd love to try the key.

Want to update you here... I just took a thick paper clip as a pick with a little 45 degree angle on the end, and a sliver of metal from a pen cap and picked that lock open after about 3 minutes of YouTube watching here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2r07NN21vM

Thanks for the suggestion! Never tried to pick a lock in my life.

Thanks in advance! I'll pay for all the trouble and copying/mailing of course.
I've got a "D001" for my Shark pack. Looks like it a letter as well as a number.
