    Canada shipment

I want to buy a battery pack but have been getting (or hearing) about roadblocks when it comes to canada. Is this true? If so, any ideas?

Some companies may not ship there. But Luna does.
Overseas shipping is more difficult because it necessitates airshipping, but Canada is on the same continent so ground-based shipping is possible.

Luna ships to Canada often. Many prefer to use USA addresses and carry across. Contact customer service for details.

no worries into Canada from Luna (always has to go ground shipping) - just be prepared for a delay at customs and a shiney new customs tax bill..

I contacted Canadian Customs and Grey Hound bus Lines to see about bringing batteries to Canada. Grey Hound says no. So I will just get Lunacycle to ship it and get a fat tax bill.

It depends. The issue is that UPS acts as your customs broker and charges whatever they want for this service. They choose to overcharge far more than the actual cost, as a way for UPS to make more money. We do not have a choice going with UPS since they are the only ones that will handle hazmat. HOWEVER, that does not mean you need to UPS as the customs broker.

If ordering a full kit + battery I recommend:

PCBCA is your trusted Customs Broker and Freight Manager for Canada and the US. If you need expert assistance with anything international trade, you can trust us to provide you with solutions.

I have spoken with these customs brokers at length about referring Canadian customers to them for customs brokerage. It is pretty easy.

So here's what you would need to do. Place the order, and in the order comments ask that it is not shipped until you contact the broker. Then you take the order confirmation email provided to you by Luna and contact the broker at the URL listed above and give it to them, tell them that is your order invoice. The broker will set up an account and give you the necessary information to be given to us, you email it to us, at which point we ship it, and you get a substantial savings.

So basically instead of UPS clearing the shipment through customs, the broker does this.
