UCR1 describes some changes he was able to effect: speed limit, tire size, and wheel circumference, in Desmodromic's X-1/M600 BESST thread but adds it might be better not to mess with them. As of last I looked, there was little or no reporting on how the changes played out in actual riding. (I'm having trouble articulating tonight! I got the firmware reflashed on my newer X-1 and it's great. Behaves a lot like my older bike now, which, like yours IIRC, has the ....xxx14.4 firmware. I didn't try to redo any of the settings, as from everything I've read, most of them are locked down, and for the ones that aren't, I don't have enough confidence in my computer abilities and analytical skills (in gauging the results in actual use) to try.

Regarding the brake sensor thing, I mentioned them in response to eskachig's question "Does the M600 motor have a brake sensor connector?" I had considered installing one as a way to avoid hard shifts in higher PAS levels, which has been a major pain for me.

my experience is the same as Bradleyland, below 46v better be easy on the gas or it will trip out. Dropping the battery then refitting it momentarily will re-energize for a while.

Don't get a medium frame! I'm 6'1" or less now, with a long torso and got a medium. After a year I broke down and got a large. Up to that point I'd been able to tolerate the medium with seatpost maxed. Since starting to ride the large, I can't stand to ride the medium. All the geometry is off for me but the legs are the worst.

I try to get the closest ride to a non-electric bike as possible, really want the exercise, but even if I didn't, it would be silly to not be able to get the best performance out of the thing.

On a different Luna topic, I have spent many hours updating my cheapo Dell PC and I think it may finally be ready to attempt using the BESST tool.

Well, I'm hoping that perhaps someone on this forum might be able to offer some help. I posted in the Facebook page for X1, but it seems that most folks fail to understand the issue that I am facing.
Here is the story.
Last Monday, I rode for about 9 miles. Put the bike away with around 80% charge left. Two days later, I go to grab the bike for a ride and the battery icon is red and indicating around 9%. I was confused, as the battery LEDs are all lit up but for one, but figured perhaps I might as well throw the battery on the charger. (at this point, I'm not thinking anything is amiss. So, a few hours later, the charger light is green, so I grab the battery (confirm all LEDs are illuminated, drop it in the bike, turn the bike on, and it is reading less than 10% charge. So I change the display to Voltage, and the bike is just above 54V. So I try to ride the bike, and there is ZERO assist. Apparently, 54V indicated means nothing if the battery icon is red (and showing empty), and the display percentage is 9% or less.
Multiple battery reseating failed to change anything, although there were times when the percentage would jump to the mid 20% range, and even up to 60% (but it never stays for long -meaning more than 5-10 minutes).
One of my riding buddies has a Ludi X1, and I was able to borrow his new, never used, original display (He now has the 860 like me), and the bike still failed to show a fully charged battery, or give full power. In fact, it displayed 3% and a quick ride confirmed zero motor activity. So, we then swapped in his battery (which was at 80% on his bike, ~51V) to my bike, and still no luck.
I was certain that the issue must lie with the display, but nope. I even thought that perhaps the battery was at issue, but again, nope. My battery in his bike showed 54V and 100% charge.
I dropped my motor, and it is dry, so not likely water related (not to mention that I have not ridden in water).
So this is where I am hoping for some help from this forum. In my mind, there are only two possible culprits left...the signal cables and the motor. I did check the wires and connectors visually, and no signs of any damage. I have NOT pulled the wires from the downtube to see if perhaps any fraying had occurred during my rides, but with only 200miles on the bike, I find that difficult to believe.

I did open a ticket with Luna on the same day, Wednesday, the day before Christmas eve, and got a response to the effect that they were not sure what I was describing and to take a video. So I did that, and have followed up with better descriptions (I hope). But seeing as it is the holidays, I am a bit deflated as I do not expect much follow up in the next week...which is unfortunate as this is the only two weeks that I have any time to ride much. Once New Years passes, it will be back to weekends primarily. Bad timing.
Here is an image of the display at 54V but the battery empty. Also note that I have confirmed Voltage with a DVM.

I should add that on the rare instances when the display shows 60%, the bike rides like it should. In fact, I was riding it in my street at 20% -which means NOT full power, demonstrating how it would not wheelie in PAS3, when apparently the battery indicator jumped up, and I did not notice and almost looped out. So, full battery or not, the power appears to be metered out based upon the percentage. The battery icon also appears to be based upon percentage and not calculated from volts.
This is where the confusion on the X1 Facebook page is...the guys keep telling me that I can ride my bike since i have 54Vs...which is true, providing I am OK with riding around on a 48lb bike with no assist, or sometimes with partial assist, etc...

Anyone know where I can find installation guidance for a Fisher Fab House LED installed on a Luna X-1? I'm sure someone has done one but I can't seem to locate any worthwhile instructions.

I don't think any such guide has been made specifically for this bike. Pretty simple though, I imagine the simplest approach would be to just splice into discharge wiring. Might even be able to use tap connectors, though I would probably solder it.

The FFH clamp does not fit the X-1 bars, clamps are sitting in the tapered part of bars and will not tighten enough. Any ideas??

But reviews have said the X1 runs large, and for trail/enduro riding like what the X1 is made for, it's best to err on the small size. Per sizing chart, medium is recommended up to 5'11". I read a recent forum post by someone "6'1" or less" that said he regretted getting the medium. Anyone else in the 6'0" range regret getting a medium?

A lot of factors go into the bike 'fit' so likely why you see conflicting opinions. Best thing would be to look at the geometry chart, and particular, the "D" dimension for the frame sizes. On top of that, you have 170mm crank throws, the seat post can extend an additional 100mm past the top of the frame, and the 'dropper' part can extend an additional 100mm on top of that. So given the "D" dimension + crank throw + seat post + dropper extension, you can calculate exactly where that would fall for a given inseam. (32" = 813mm, btw)

Then it sort of comes down to personal preference...do you like to feel like a big guy on a small / tossable frame, or do you like to feel like you and the bike "are one", or do you like to feel like the bike is a substantial piece of equipment and you are riding along? This would guide you to the smallest frame with seat post at max extension, an average frame, or a larger frame with the seat post near minimum extensions, respectively.

I'm the 6'1" or less guy (have shrunk with age from 6'1.5", but probably not much in the leg; inseam is roughly 32"...as I said, my torso is long). With the medium frame, seatpost adjusted to the "STOP" level and dropper at max height, my knee is way bent at the bottom of pedal stroke. Large frame lets me get in optimal pedaling position. If I had the suspension at max (i.e., at minimum sag) it might be a stretch to get a foot (toes) on the ground when stopped with the dropper at full height, but the sloping top tube means my nuts are safe in sudden stops.

I am 5' 7" and a 30" inseam.
The medium fits me fine.
I doubt you want a medium

The only thing that feels taller on my X1 is the top tube height, not the bike fit.

I'm the same height and inseam (5' 7" and a 30") and am close to pulling the trigger on the small frame X1. Probably tough for you to answer, but do you think you'd find the small frame too small?

I am 5’7” ish and glad i got the small. I do mostly technical single tracks with tight turns so the small is definitely better for me.

I do not feel stretched out on my medium X1
It does not feel too big to me
It feels about like my other medium frame bikes except for the top tube height.
in fact, I am always scooching back on the seat to stretch out a bit more.

My 2 cents worth on the size discussion. I'm just under 6 feet and have a 32 inseam. I've owned 6 bikes over the last 40 years, always size L, either 19 or 19.5 inches. I always felt like I was stretched to maximum reach on most large frames and made adjustments with stems and seat rail position. So I bought a medium size X1. I rode my new X1 medium yesterday for 14 miles on rolling trails and pavement. It felt great, no knee pain today. Seat post is set about 0.5 inches below maximum height. I did change the stem to a 35 degree, 110mm length stem. Raising the handlebars about 1 inch for a more upright riding position. I'm 67 and wont be flying down knarly single tracks. I do spend a considerable amount of time hill-climbing and didn't feel uncomfortable standing on the pedals yesterday. I'm thinking this medium is going to work great for my needs. If it doesn't, I'll just sell it and get a large. One more thing, the 152 cranks are short, agree with another forum comment that 165 would be the perfect solution. Any one know a source for these? PS This bike is the best toy I ever got, I love it!
