It sounds like the low battery cut off is coming into play, it can be a pain.
To avoid it be careful to avoid high loads when under 47v. (it can easily sag from 47v to 42v under load & 42 is the cut-off point).
If it shuts off, switch off then back on. This brings mine back to life immediately.
I used the 2 end caps of the original battery & adapted a "Bicycle Motor Works" 52v 17.5 amp hr.. 14-5 battery & it is a huge gain in range & less sag.

Mike Eatough, I'm totally interested in learning more about how you adapted the Bicycle Motor Works battery. I'd also love to see some pictures of your new battery, and how it looks on the bike. Cheers, man. Nice job!

Mike - Please share. Also, did you investigate a smaller "spare battery", backpack style, to limp home?

    Same for me!

Hey Mike - Do you have any more details on this? I’d love to squeeze a bit more range in there, battery issues aside. Any knowledge you got on this would be amazing!

I'm not having much success posting pictures to this forum.
anyone who wants to actually do this project I will message them pics or talk to them directly (410) 997 0765, I run this battery in my X1 with either the M600 or bbshd motor installed.

      X1 Enduro Temporary Disable Throttle?

I want to keep the throttle, but does anyone know if I can mod it to be temporarily disabled? Reason: Some bike parks don't allow throttles, but I want to disable it (with a switch or something). Another eBike I own has a on/off switch.

Sorry to cross-post but I'm new here and didn't know where to post this question. Just pre-ordered my X1 today. Thank you.

If you follow the wire coming out of the thumb unit, there is a connector ~12 inches down the wire. I don't remember if it was inside or outside the frame on my bike, though. (Thought it was outside.) If it's outside the frame, you could connect / disconnect it easily..

Any park that doesn’t allow throttles won’t normally care if it has an on/off switch. If there’s a throttle attached to the bike, it’s prohibited. The best way to avoid trouble is to either temporarily remove the throttle while you’re headed to the park (there’s a simple connector you can unplug), or to change to a twist throttle. Most of the time, they’re looking for thumb throttles, so twist throttles can fly under the radar. Just be sure not to use it so no one reports you.

I removed the throttle from my X1
I never used it and it's really not needed, IMO

If twist (I don't care for thumb personally) maybe just a neoprene tube you can slide over it and then voila! no throttle... but then again even though I pedal 100% of the time I still want it for that fine and fast control... yesterday did a nice ride and the screw securing the throttle got loose and I couldn't use it... was a very bizarre sensation...

Guys, have anyone found a good way to attach a water bottle on an X-1 frame? I couldn't find a good and secure way to attach a bottle holder anywhere on x-1 frame. I carry water in my back pocket and really don't like it.

The Luna no drill battery mounts sold on the website provide a set of standard m5 water bottle bosses anywhere that you can put hose clamps. Might be worth looking into

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my X1 at the end of this month. Just like the posted above, I hate carrying my water bottle in my back pack. Thus, I had the same question.... What water bottle cages fit on the X1?

Most water bottle cages use m5 bolt holes so if you use this should be fine for most of the cages on the market https://lunacycle.com/no-drill-battery-mount-kit/

Can anyone expand on this a little bit? I've been charging my X-1 battery to 80% to prolong its life - most rides I take it on are relatively short. Is there some sort of schedule for how often this "cell balancing" needs to take place?

          Comment

The cells aren't all equal so they will charge and discharge a little differently and without "balancing" the ones that have a little less capacity will end up getting over charged and/or over discharged compared to the rest. BMS's will "balance" them when charging to ensure they have the same voltage across them but this only happens near the end of the charge cycle. Regardless, charging fully will balance them at that point and most folks would say if you are only charging to 80% but balance very half dozen cycles or so that's good enough... But it's not etched in stone tablets from the mount and it also depends on the BMS...

Can the x-1 medium frame accommodate a longer dropper post than the stock one?

Yes. I'm running the OneUp 180mm post on mine. I do have issues with clamping force though. I may just need to clean it an regrease it with carbon grease that I have as it did not do it originally.

Thanks. Do you know what the OEM post length is?

For folks that have Ludi option, does it affect battery charge and/or range vs standard option? i'm assuming if you ride both in similar settings (same PAS, cadence, etc.)

I would like ludi but i fear it will affect range which is more important to me.

              Comment

I have the ludi, but not the normal to compare to! I think there might be a few members here that have one of each, so hopefully they will chime in.

I think the general consensus is that if range is important, you'd want the non-ludi bike with the 'updated' / 'bafang' / 14.6 firmware. This allows some usable amount of pedal assist in PAS 1 and 2, not just the 'all or nothing' shot of PAS 3.

If your ride with the same "PAS" (Pedal Assist Setting) - then the ludi is going to put more power to the wheels and drain the battery faster than a normal bike. Though if you turn down the level on the ludi - to get roughly the same amount of actual pedal assist at the crank as the standard bike, then the bikes should consume close to the same amount of power. The only thing is, that may leave you with 1 or 2 acceptable levels on the ludi bike and 4 or 5 on the non-ludi. ...and on the ludi your finger will always get itchy and tempted to bump that PAS up one more level for more speed!

After a lot of research/reading...I ordered the Ludi mode and the BESST tool, mainly because of the rider feedback and BESST Tool ability to now load version 14.6 to a Ludi bike. The consensus so far is that 14.6 is a cleaner tuned and more efficient firmware.

If the Ludi torque at level 1 (w/14.6) is the same as the non-Ludi at 2 or 3 (w/14.6), does it really matter? Battery drain would be about the same?
Previously, seems most people were having to ride in 2/3 level of 5 anyway, Ludi or not....unless version 14.4
The additional power is a nice to have, especially when needed.
I know of 1 Ludi owner in San Antonio that shreds on this bike (he races off-road motorcycles as I do) he's on 14.5 firmware and mentioned getting around 28 to 30 miles on a charge....will 14.6 improve that? Time will tell....

I was just happy to snag a pre-order with large frame last week.....

KTMracer63 - do you have any pointers or details on how I could update the firmware on my X1?

Just to add to the historical records for future buyers, the medium and large X1 showed up again for pre-orders a couple of days ago. The smalls never disappeared. All 3 sizes are there now.

Nothing but smalls for the past 2 weeks....the large's were gone in like 3 days.
                  Gotta move quick on them...

Hello fellow Luna Xbikers! My bracket from the display/speedometer cracked and broke off. The display still works, just want to know where to purchase the bracket without buying the entire display with Luna ($70). Or any sturdier upgrade to the current display? besides using duct tape...

Mine broke too... whacked by a tree branch a couple days after I got the bike! The bracket is actually part of a 'backshell' that is separate from the display. But as you say, no available replacements. Possibly a 3D print.

Maybe you could buy one of the MANY cell phone mounts that attach to the handlebar. They are cheap on Amazon etc. You could cut the "mounts" hoops off the back of the broken Display so it is"flush/flat" with a dremel/cut off wheel and then put ther display into a small cell phone mount to the bars in place of the stock thin plastic bar mount hoops.

My display bracket broke (different display) and I just tie-wrapped it on

I found the bracket after searching from different supplier but still haven't gotten around to installing it - the tie-wraps are working fine and not even noticeable unless you are really looking hard

                  YMMV
              Working...
