    Luna Eclipse Folding Ebike

    This page under construction

    Assembly

(there is an expansion wedge on the end of the grips, you tighten this grip with a screwdriver from the end)

Warranty : 1 year warranty against factory defects

    Q and A
    Is battery removable?
Yes battery is removable, it is within the frame but can be easily removed with a Key. Spare batteries are available here.

    Range?
A commonly accepted rule of thumb for ebikes is 20wh/mile. This bike has a 672wh battery. If we divide 672/20 we get 33.6 miles. This will vary depending on a number of factors like weight, speed, terrain and tire pressure. This is not a guarantee, but may be a reasonable estimate. If you only use pedal assist this number may be higher, how high it would be depends on what level of PAS you have it in.

Can this be used on trails?
Yes with the right tires (20x4" knobbies)

Can this be used with fast charger?
Yes you could use 48v Luna Advanced charger, just need a barrel adapter and limited to 4-5amps charge current

    Canada shipping?
Yes we can do that, Canada shipping options have been added to checkout for this bike

    Pas and throttle?
    Yes has both

    Max weight?
Roughly 275lbs (Please note that the more weight the less range you will get)

    Max adjustment on seatpost?
    6"

    Belt size?
    CDX 132

Can I change the gear ratio?
Yes you can the hub motor uses a standard HG freehub with a 9 spline belt pulley with spacers and in front you have a standard 130bcd pulley, but you do need to replace the belt to a larger one if you decide to change. You could also convert it to chain if needed .

    Display compatibility?
Not compatible with other bafang displays sold

    Seatpost diameter?
    33.9mm

    Compatible rider height?
This can be comfortably ridden by folks even 6'4"

Can battery be charged off of the bike?
Yes there is a standard barrel port (2.1mm pin type) directly on the battery, the plug on the frame simply opens access to the plug on the battery itself.

    Battery weight?
    7 lbs

Can battery be locked into the frame?
    Yes

    Rim inner width?
    3.5"

    Fenders and racks?
It would certainly be technically possible to add those things. There is a mount on the fork you could add a fender too. You could put a basket on the bars easily using common handlebar mounted racks. For rear fenders there are a few kit options out there specifically for 20x4-in tires but might require some small modding and perhaps one of our no drill kits if you need to add a couple m5 mount points. There is also possibility of using many seatpost mounted rear racks or even a seatpost mounted fender; this modification would be fairly easy.

    Box dimensions?
61x28.5x12 (note this is not a guarantee, box may be different in future depending on production run)

    Folded Dimensions?
45x35x22". Can go way smaller if you loosen handlebars with an allen key and fold them down as well.

    How much assembly is required?
Not much, please see video above

    Display settings?

    Modifications

Possible to replace stock stem with a folding bike stem?
Yes this is possible. A likely candidate would be this one: https://flatbike.com/product/thinstem/

    Rear rack?
    This would work https://www.bikebling.com/Blackburn-...6-7044592.htm?
There is also a discussion of using rear frame mounted rack further in this thread, which is possible but would require using a couple of our no-drill mount kits to add bolt mounts onto the frame.

    Aftermarket throttles for this bike?
This would work with all throttles sold at Luna built for BBSHD and BBS02 kits (which is most of them). If unsure check the connector, compatible bbsxx throttles have a yellow three pin HIGO connector.

The original throttle is a right twist, so the easiest throttles to swap to would be the universal thumb throttle or the right half twist. You could also use left throttles such as the left thumb throttle or left twist in theory but this would be more involved, i.e. you would have to move components from left to right on the bars and possibly replace other components if something interfered with placement of the throttle.

    Fender suggestions?
Try this (unconfirmed for now) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003694279493.html?

How to use a Luna charger with this?
You would want the 48v Advanced version or 48v Mini.
These require a xt60 to barrel adapter since Luna chargers have xt60 male on the end by default. You can get one here.

Tires with a more knobby tread?
If looking to replace the slicks for something more suitable for offroad check out Vee Mission Command tires

      Maintenance and troubleshooting

      How to adjust the brakes?

Error 24, holaer abnormal (which mean hall sensor fault) That is most of the time a connection issue between the motor and the controller

If after close inspection and plugged back in tight then it could be a controller connection.

Please remove the battery rear cradle and inspect the controller and connectors.

In reading the care of batteries it often says for long-term storage shoot for 50%. On this bike there doesn’t seem to be LEDs on the battery. Should you just use the display and shoot for 50%

Yes, you can use the gauge on the display. Our Advanced charger would also give you an exact voltage readout when plugged in, would just need an xt60 female to barrel adapter. This would also give you fast charging and charge percentage options as well so it is a pretty good upgrade. Course you could even just use a multimeter if you just wanted to occasionally put it at around 50% SOC like during long term storage.

Is there a way to wire up front and tail lights?

I just use rechargeable MTB headlights, and battery tail lights (side markers are a big +).
Aside from the Fixie Stealth bike I think Luna mostly stays away from street legal E bikes.
I don't work for Luna so that's just my own observation.
That's kind of a generic question, you might ask in the DITY thread and see how others are doing it.

What is the Wheel base? I currently own a Lectric XP and I'm wondering how it compares in size to the original XP.

It is a 20" rim with fatbike tires which make it effectively equivalent to 26"

I love the power available here as we typically tow a trailer and have a child seat on the back. However, there doesn't seem to be an option for a rear rack (which is where we mount our child seat).

You could put a seat post mounted rear rack on it but if you mean the more traditional type of rear rack that would mount to both the seat post and the chain stay that would not be possible with a full suspension bike

Can the battery be upgraded to higher voltage?
also will the firmware of the controller be manually upgraded?

If you are asking if you can overvolt it you probably can as with most hubmotor setups, but probably important to bear in mind that as with any electric bike if you overvolt it will lower reliability.

Where could compatible higher voltage or amp hour batteries be purchased? Also just where to purchase standard battery replacements.

There are many sources for batteries, we do not have a specific recommendation at this time. If you need a replacement stock battery we may be able to sell one as special order, I imagine we will make them available on a separate listing at some point in the future as well

Is it 500 watts, 1000 watts peak or 1000 watts nominal?

What's the controller rated for? And the hub? Is there a 52v option in the display menu?

Actual transit time about 4 business days, also often there's about a week lead time.

Not much maintenance would be needed, it is a geared hub and belt drive so the complexity is lower than most of the bikes we sell. No derailer to tune up, no chain that needs lube, no hydros that need to be bled, and hub only has a handful of moving parts so less likely to break.

Hubmotors don't put any extra load on the drive train.More than likely it's actually reduced. But riding further and faster the brake pads will need to be replaced more often. So a set of brake pads on hand would help. The odd tire size would make it wise to have a spare tire and tube or 2 on hand at all times. A battery will last a couple years, but there's no point in buying a spare now, it will just get old sittting there.. Other than that just normal bicycle service should do it.
