Hard to see from below, but turning the key only turns the battery on and off. in order to unlock the battery from the frame, you need to press the key further in and then turn counterclockwise.

And a video that shows how the ratchet bolts work:
A clear explanation via video of how to use clamp levers correctly.
The ratchet bolts are very strong, so be careful not to overtighten. It might be a good idea to get a torque wrench so that you can figure out what 6-7 Nm feels like before you start using the ratchet handles every day.
And the M5 spacer washers you use must NOT be more than 8mm in outer diameter and they need to add up to at least 9mm in length. I'm currently stacking two 6mm long spacer washers per bolt for 12mm total length.
It's very fast and very easy to twist the stem and drop the handlebars.
Here's a video of it in action and some pictures (note that I'm doing it one-handed, so it's a little easier to do with 2 hands):

Has anyone found a nifty solution to plugging the battery "keyhole" in the frame? Seems a bit weird that there isn't a rubber plug for this hole (like there is for the battery charge port) seeing as it's on the underside of the frame which receives water and dirt splashes when riding on the beach, for example.
Possible to replace stock stem with a folding bike stem?
Yes this is possible. A likely candidate would be this one: https://flatbike.com/product/thinstem/
Do you have any suggestions for replacing the stem, or adding some kind of "raiser" to the stem so I can raise the handlebars a few inches?
First day with my Eclipse and the kickstand broke the second time I put it down! It appears it is made out of a pot metal substance. I have entered a support ticket and will let you all know what comes of it. Also, pretty disappointed this isn't a 1000W motor, but rather a 500W. Why is this nowhere in the sales pitch that mentions this?????
I am very interested in this bike but before ordering it is it possible to answer these questions:
- what exact Bafgang motor model does it have and rated torque. (if 85N it would be great)
- does it come with sine wave controller @ what A??
- is it possible to program cruise mode ?
- is upgrade to hydraulic brakes a easy upgrade
Even if you had the actual model the rated torque would be like half of actual because it is using double the rated power
Standard trap controller
Spose you could put in a hardware based cruise throttle but probably easier just to get a crampbuster. No on the programming
Swapping to hydros should take no time at all. Unbolt the caliper, bolt on new one, run the line
I don't work for Tanuus or Luna so this is unofficial. But I have been trying Tannus and I find the sizng to be less that straightforward for a couple reasons.
Tannus uses the external advertised tire dimensions to size their product. But since it goes inside the tire this can lead to problems.
1- A tire with knobby thread will have a smaller inner volume than a regular tire of the same outer size.
2- A tire with flat protection layers will have the same issue. Smaller inner size than normal.
If it's in the middle of the size range you can trim the Tannus to the next smaller size. But you may need a smaller Tannus in some cases.
I would contact Tannus about your specific problem.
BASE193 The connector is pictured below, it's the part with the white arrows on it.
Usually this is a relatively simple thing but if you are having difficulty you may want to have the work done at your local bike shop.
Anyone found a good and simple rotating handlebar stem? I saw the photo of the eclipse in a car trunk in an elektrek article and am concerned about fitting two bikes in a Corolla trunk.
Affordable, safe and simple quick-release folding stem replacement that makes your bike over 50% thinner giving you the freedom to take and store your bike anywhere. Prevent theft, store neatly indoors. Easily get in and out of places. Move easily in crowds.
THINstem is another. It folds along the centerline of the bike, and comes in 70-90mm. More expensive and might put the bar into the seat depending on the bike.

The Satori can fold toward or away depnding on how you turn the fork.
Revelo has folding pedals also.
Possibly not, though one might assume any type that does mount to the frame (via those no drill mounts or any other method) might be more solidly mounted
Silicone works as a chemical ball bearing lubricant. No reason to use it on the belt drive, and the petroleum solvents may damage the belt also. Similar automotive camshaft timing belt go 100k miles with no service at all.
Depends on your definition of waterproof. Due to the design of the battery and controller being entirely housed within the frame this is likely significantly more water resistant than the average ebike, especially the cheaper ones that still use external Hailong or reention packs (rad, juiced etc) because it is far less exposed.
But even a regular bicycle I probably would not toss into the ocean and still expect it to work right.
As far as regular rain and that kind of thing yes it is fine, just don't go pressure washing it or doing anything too crazy and it should be fine for years
Just a big cable lock but I don’t leave my bike unless it’s a bathroom stop or a grocery story in a nice area. I confirmed my homeowners covers the bike.
FYI - some homeowner's insurance companies get wadded panties about electric bikes in general due to potential fire hazards - did you mention it was electric?
Aikate bike cup holder. It has a ring for the seat post. Works well with an insulate BUBBA cup. I had to move my cryolite rear light to the “chain” stay.$14
