I put on 850 miles since I purchased my Luna eclipse a month ago. Just recently, whenever I put hard pressure on the crankshaft when pedaling it makes a loud clunking noise. I’ve tried everything from the gates carbon belt site online and it still does it. It may be internally damaged. What are your thoughts, thanks!

Do you know why this light is blinking red on the crankshaft when I pedal. This will blink with light pedaling or anytime type of pedaling. The hard clunking noise will come from when start to pedal with force to climb a hill with or without pas or motor off. I plan to take it to my local bike shop on Monday before I send it back via warranty on it. Your advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If you look on the left side of the crankshaft, you will see a little white opening and it never started to blink until this clunking noise started when putting hard pressure on the pedals. The light with blink with just the rotating of the pedals too.

Just returned from my local bike shop, and they said the noise is coming from the rear cog. He things I need a new rear 20T cog for it.

Definitely no offense to you Pax. I was referring to my experience with my rear brake caliper missing pieces, but via the email route as the website states to do. I explained my issue, but maybe I came across confusing, I apologized. I was asked to send a picture, I explained a little better I thought and sent the picture, and asked for a few minutes of time over the phone, I was told there is no one with technical experience that can get on a phone, ok I guess. I was then asked to make videos, make a account via a 3rd party website to upload the videos showing my issue, I did that, then zero response. I waited a week, reached back out inquired if anyone had a chance to look at the videos I sent, nothing. So I waited yet another week, then pretty much said don't even worry about it, I just had to purchase a entire new rear caliper myself for the Eclipse. Just was a little frustrated as one of the customer support individuals was a manager, and to be honest, a selling point for me for purchasing the Eclipse was stated under the Eclipse description...Luna branded with Luna support.

Then I come to the forums with a few questions about other items, and get very good responses. So if we have Pax...then we're golden!!

I am the manager that was briefly on that email case actually. Last email we received on the case was on july 20 stating you would email us back with a link to the video. Did you reply to this same case when posting the followup you are describing? Or maybe it was sent with or to a different email address?

If you can resend by replying to the case we can work it out but we have no record of any email in that case past that date. Maybe it was some technical issue or even went to spam, if that is the case I apologize

I don’t think this light blinking is the speed sensor or cadence sensor if that’s what you mean when you say speedo sensor. Does anyones blink when the pedal or is it just mine and I never noticed it before. It does not blink when I just use the throttle and the speedometer still works.

I have never seen any blinking lights on my eclipse. Can't find anything that blinks. there is a small white dot on the outside of the cadence sensor on the left side of the bottom bracket where the crank comes out. Is that what's blinking? Are the wires coming out the bottom going up to the controller damaged or shorted out in any way? I can't imagine what your seeing, and I hope you post when you get it figured out. good luck

Has anyone swapped out their rear suspension for anything good + better? I'm 145lb (66kg) and I can't even get the spring to move a bit if I bounce on it. I tried to find a replacement shock, but based the specs from the Eclipse sales page, I could find nothing.

Wondering if anyone else had more luck or replaced it with someone better?

JFOYH has a lot of different shocks at various levels. .
I'm not associated with them in any way. But the shock I got form them for a folding suspension bike was a known brand.
I don't own an Eclipse, so IDK what they came with originally. But at that price point it's probably pretty basic, and on fatbikes it may not matter that much anyway.

My 26" folder needed a 125mm shock which only comes in coil so I have no experience with their air shocks.

I’m very interested in getting a Luna Eclipse bike when they’re back in stock. But there are two things I would want to change, and I’m wondering if you can advise me if the potential changes are possible. (I’m not that well versed in the correct vocabulary, but I’m alright mechanically)

1. I want to add integrated lights. Do you have any compatible kits, or can you point me to a resource where I could buy/build compatible lights?

2. I’ve read that above 18-20mph, the pedaling cadence gets a bit to fast to comfortably maintain. I want to raise the max comfortable pedal speed so that I can pedal at higher speeds. Is this possible by using a taller front sprocket, or shorter rear sprocket? If so, where can I find sprockets/belts that would help me achieve this? Additionally, how does one figure out the correct belt length?

This would involve modding the bike though. Such as running new pos/neg wiring from discharge on the battery up to the light. Which might involve drilling, splicing etc. Though I suppose I someone were to find a suitable HIGO splitter they could put that on the harness at the handlebars and run it off there. There's a lot of different HIGO plugs out there with probably even varying polarity so until someone does the research to determine the specific product needed there is nothing plug and play that we currently know of.

I have no info on gearing it differently, sorry. Probably is possible but you might need a different belt too and to re-tension it etc. You can comfortably maintain higher cadence with shorter cranks and that's a much easier mod so probably a good starting point if you wanted to optimize for pedaling at higher speeds than stock.

I've got just over 900 miles on my eclipse with no major problems. To get my rear shock to move i just adjusted the spring tension ring. I use my bike to commute and usually am pedalling in PAS 5 continuously to make better time. Normally only use the throttle at stop signs, lights for initial takeoff. Numerous steep hills in my area and this bike does very well. So far the farthest i've rode without charging the battery is about 30 miles ( battery was low but not out). Am considering converting to hydro brakes. first thing I did change was the seat. This is my first experience with an ebike and really like it so far.

If you want to switch to metallic pads the rotors must be absolutely clean, as in sanded down to fresh metal clean.Any old pad material and they will squeal. I use then on my fast city bike and they last longer and cut down on frequent adjustments. IDK the brakes the Eclipse comes with. But to adjust I lok at the rotor and if it bends when the brake is applied I adjust the inner pad first, then the outer for lever travel. The brakes can be noisy if just the outer pad hits under light braking. Keeping the inner pad tight prevents this.
One test for brake pads is to warm up the brakes, then make a hard stop from full speed. You should be backing off the pressure on the levers as the bike slows. If you have to increase pressure as you stop, you need better pads.

FWIW when I changed from organic to metallic the organic pads were completely shagged and I didn't touch the rotors... initially there was some noise, just more a scraping sound (no squealing) until they were bedded in and then very little noise after that for many thousands of miles... I did do some deliberate very hard braking (including some hills) to help get them bedded more quickly but really didn't do a heck of a lot aside from just putting in the new pads...

Since it's a four pot hydraulic setup I just grabbed brakes and then tightened the caliper mounts to get everything centered..

Bedding in is important especially for organic pads. It should be done when the bike is new also. Basically you stop repeatedly with the new pads to get them hot (unless you have a hill). This creates a dry layer on the braking surface by cooking out the oils in the pad. Once this is done the layer will work it's way down through the pad as it wears. Stopping will be better.
To sand the rotors all you need to do is fold a piece of sand paper around it and spin the wheel a few times. My BBSHD cable brake yell at me if I don't do this. AZ's 4 piston hydros might be more polite

Should be soon according to the owner of the company, she did not give a timetable but I would assume it would arrive in the same container with the next batch of bikes. Probably within a month but this is somewhat of a guess

When doing a simple adjustment of the position of my brake levers after getting new grips, the metal behind the bolt head snapped while tightening the clamp around the handlebar with normal torque. Now it spins freely and needs to be replaced.

It's clear that the metal used is pretty cheap since since the brand (Five Star) is from China and I can only find their stuff on Alibaba and Ali Express (but I can't find the levers that are used on the Eclipse).

Will Luna be able to provide a replacement?
