PAS and Throttle - a Mystery

I read that some Bafang users can operate the throttle. Others talk about PAS. On my installation, which is a few months old, I only have PAS. The throttle does nothing. I can't see any settings on the control screen to activate the throttle. I have read that it requires re-programming to have both PAS and throttle. Some users have complained that when using the throttle, if they move the pedals the power stops, even with the throttle pressed down. My question is, how can I have the option of using either the throttle or the PAS selector? Can you use both at the same time? Any clues?

I use both - mostly pedal on my BBSHD. With the recent units the pedaling overrides the throttle when it is anything but full so essentially the throttle doesn't work while pedaling but will work normally when you stop. There are settings to make it throttle-only so you can pedal while having complete throttle control but then the pedal assist is entirely disabled and I play with this mode when I'm out in a hard dirt day but you have to flash the settings to get from the throttle-only back to the default having pedal assist, and throttle with no pedaling.

Some folks on another board are working on a hardware remedy that looks very promising that would enable a fairly seamless transition from pedal-assist to throttle...

I have BbS 02 with thumb throttle, and use it as well as 5 level PAS all the time, not sure what your issue is (was, hopefully figured it out by now). Worked out of the box and on the road for a year now. I usually use throttle getting started have the PAS delay to engage gradually if I go that way cruising use PAS mostly. Seamless now, so if anyone having specific issues I'm looking pay more attention to what I do. Now I just enjoy the commute, even during Iowa winter ( 9F commute recently. Definitely awake when got to work!)

Has there been any new news on this issue? I have 2 bikes and they act totally different. My bike must have the older controller and allows you to use the throttle while pedaling, it is very smooth and my preferred way to ride. I stay in pedal assist 0 or 1 and just roll into the throttle when I need a little extra.
My wifes bike is opposite, with no pedaling you can use the throttle but if you pedal the throttle quits working unless you go 100%.
Is there a firmware update to fix this or does it have to be a hardware change?

Apparently it's pretty much a hardware issue from what I can tell. My BBSHD that arrived from Bafang USA last month didn't have the issue...throttle works while pedaling if I so desire. It seems that Bafang may have removed that from USA delivered versions at some point, but who knows. Luna Cycle apparently removes this issue from the units they deliver. Here is a link to the hardware fix.

If your familiar with firmware updating, it may be addressed here...
EDIT: ***EVERYTHING*** I know about this, all the information I have about this, is here in this thread; please don't PM me for more info (I don't have any), just ask in this thread, and maybe someone else will know. First: You accept all responsibility for performing any or all of the...

Starts out as a voltage patch, but goes on to include throttle and PAS operation.

Interesting, reading thru the firmware upgrade has me a little nervous with people talking about turning their controllers into a brick. I guess worst case is you buy a new controller.
The hardware fix seems like a lot of work and seems like something you shouldn't have to do. But 2 different ways to go after this problem.
