Wiring Description for Luna Kelly KBSX Cyclone Controllers

This Kelly controller is a plug & play with Luna's Mini & 3000 Cyclone motors/throttles (auto learning function must still be performed, program cable required)

That said, Kelly controllers are compatible with any 3 phase brushless motor. The following wiring guide will help you connect whichever motor you own.

There are connectors on the Kelly/Cyclone Controller: 1 Red, 4 black and 3 white

Red 2 Pin (female): Battery (no numbers assigned to wires)
    • Large Red: Battery pos (+)
    • Large Black: Battery neg (-)

White 2 Pin (female): Phase wires (Kelly controllers have an auto learning function, for simplicity, matching colors is best but not necessary) (no numbers assigned to wires)
    • Large Yellow: Phase A
    • Large Blue: Phase C

White 1 Pin (female): Phase wire (no numbers assigned to wires)
    • Large Green: Phase B

Black 2 Pin (male, wired to 7 pin): Throttle power switch/key (no numbers assigned to wires)
    • Red (bullet to black 2 pin, power in): Battery pos (+) to throttle switch/key
    • Red (black 2 pin to black 7 pin, power out): Battery pos (+) to motor, thermo, back to Pink (#7)

Black 7 pin (female): Hall & power wires
    • (#18) Yellow: Hall A
    • (#16) Blue: Hall C
    • (#17) Green: Hall B
    • (#7) Pink: Battery pos (+) in, to power controller
    • (#11) Red: 12v (+) out, to power halls
    • (#21) Black: Ground (-)
    • Red (no #, from throttle switch/key): Battery pos (+) out (connects to cyclone motor pcb and thermostat, then loops back to Pink (#7) to power controller

Black 4 pin (female): Programming cable (no numbers assigned to wires)
    • Red: V+
    • Light Green: Tx
    • Light Blue: Rx
    • Black: Ground (-)

    Black 3 pin (female): Throttle
    • (#3) Light Green: Throttle Signal (wiper/variable)
    • (#4) Purple: 5v (+)
    • (#20) Black: Ground (-)

    Black 3 pin (male) UNUSED
    • (#22) Gray:
    • (#6) Black: Ground (neg)
    • (#12) White:

According to some customers, this is the 3speed switch so connecting #12 to #6 will make the motor run faster (boost mode), unplugged is normal and connecting 22 and 6 will go into slow mode (or eco mode)

White 6 pin/5 wire (female): Balance of wires in the Kelly controllers, these are for advanced users (see manual for wiring codes/functions). Click image for larger version Name:	white6.jpg Views:	1 Size:	38.3 KB ID:	35093

"Mini & 3000 Cyclone motors/throttles (auto learning function must still be performed, program cable required" so if the controller came with my cyclone mini, will I still need to do this auto learning function?

You mean the listing that specifically says it's for cyclone, or the generic kelly controller listing? No to the former, maybe on the latter. If it's an option on the cyclone listing odds are you don't need to do some obscure BS to get it to interoperate.

Thanks Paxtana, do you have a Model Number or a specific description that will help me find a replacement (motor side) 7 pin connector?

The motor wires arrived looking like this:

I sent an email to sales & to support, but I haven't received a reply yet.

        Thanks,

I think my associate just answered you. It is easily spliced back together, bummer that it happened though and I think he made an offer to help out with it. Anyway a couple minutes with a heatshrink solder sleeve and a lighter, and that'll be good as new. I got a few splices I can send if you need it but a full variety pack like you can get from amazon is definitely a handy thing to have, very affordable too

I'm wondering how I would connect my throttle which uses 2 connectors, (1) 3-pin and (1) 2-pin (see pic) from the controllers sold in the past to this new one shown above which only has one 3 pin connector? Any ideas? (Keyed adjustable throttle. Still sold, I think)

It is no longer sold for cyclone though we do have a redirect to the non-cyclone version. Possibly if you email support we can help, though it may take some time for our tech to sort it out
      Working...
