Adding a wrist throttle to an bike with PAS

Hi!
I am new to e-bikes and bought my first on Friday! So there is a lot to learn. The ebike has a PAS but I want to use a wrist throttle. Can I just connect the throttle to the cable for the PAS controller (on the handlebar) - Will that remove the PAS function? or do I need to do something else?
