    Fat tire size

I really need help finding out what size tire I need to buy for my rim. Its supposed to be a 26 inch. It measures 2.915 on the inside of the rim.

3.0 - 4.0 depending on the width between the chain stays.

2.915" is about 75mm... fat tire rim widths are typically expressed in mm

I've got 26x4.8" on 80mm rim with 197mm dropout... on my 170mm dropout with 80mm rim I can't put anything larger than 26x4.0"

On those two bikes it's dictated by the frame, not the rims since 80mm is big enough for most any tire - I think to give any meaningful recommendations we'd need to know about the frame and forks - e.g. what's the size of the dropout and what's the fork width?
