20" wheel to easily increase BBSHD power?

On my commuter/cyclocross bike (Diamondback Haanjo) with 46T OEM chainring I'm thinking of getting a 20" rear wheel (disc brake compatible) to sub in for my 700c wheel in order to easily and quickly increase my off-road torque and hill climbing ability without changing chainrings. Has anyone tried 20 inch wheels in this way?

Not a great idea. Better to make some changes in the gearing. 42T x 32T won't do what you need?
