Mid drive cassettte zip tie mod.

I'm running street, and using Shimano Rapid Rise with matching Shimano twist shifters. I feel this mod favors twist shifters.
So there is one unanswered question.
Does anyone who is riding off road with a SRAM Gripshifter equipped Ebike want to give this a try. It's already known you need either a chain guide, or a strong arm derailleur for this to work offroad.
So far it seems to be Shimano triiger shifter responses.

Both my bikes which now both have the zip tie mod are both Shimano Deore 10 speed trigger shifters. I know my shifters are slightly different models, one of them may only downshift 2 gears at a time, the other may do as many as 4 if I remember which is which and push all the way. To do 4 its a pretty long stroke and since I'm not quite used to it I don't always have my hand positioned to be able to do it. It was harder to get that big jump to work before the mod because it would get crunchy because the shift sensor didn't hold it off long enough and the assist would try and kick in because I was trying to keep the chain moving. With the mod I can just coast so no power but the chain is moving.

I don't remember the models or brands but when I was shifter shopping a couple years ago I do remember seeing 10+ speed shifters that did in the neighborhood of 4 gears at a time. Makes sense with something like a 12, you could get through the range with 2 clicks. Not a big deal to go one at a time when there was only 6/7 but 10+ makes sense they found faster ways.

If you stop pedaling to shift it cuts the power, and releases the clutch until you pedal again. The shift sensor doesn't matter then. Maybe try unplugging it . I don't run one. The delay on a 2 gear upshift killed acceleration. Not what you want when being tailgated from a stop light.One of the first parts that got tossed on my bike were trigger shifters, followed closely by rim brakes. This required a new wheelset. So basically I tossed 1/2 of my new bike in the trash.

That's what I'm saying. You really could not reliably or safely do multiple jump shifts unless you do the zip tie mod.

On my pedal bike I tried a few things to see what's possible. Some of it may translate to this mod. None of the parts were designed to work together. Maybe none of it is new info. But I tested a few MTBR rumors and they all worked out.
Most relevant to this mod is the SRAM 11s NX Gripshifter working with the Shimano M7000 11s derailer. (SRAM 1:1.1 cable ratio vs. Shimano 1:1.12 ratio). So I have Gripshifts confirmed for 1x8 and 1x11 speeds. 1x8 can even be Rapid Rise. A plasticky part but ball bearings and a burly grip that should work when wet make it nicer than some others. The brake lever, and the other 1/2 of the grip are what holds it together to some extent, so be careful playing around with it off the bike(OOPS). So unlimited gear shifting if you want it.
The M7000 GS mid cage derailleur was chosen for the 26" wheels. It's rate 2x10 and 1x11 up to 46t cog. Rumor has it that it works up to 51t cog. This is confirmed also. No B screw mod required.
The 11s M5100 cassettte 11-51t version is rumored to work on 8s freehubs. This is confirmed also. But the all steel cassette weighs 1lb 6oz. So that one is going away on that bike in exchange for an 11-46t ZTTO lightweight cassette. It gets the derailleur back in spec. and shaves about 10oz. off of that part. Probably not an Ebike part. The issue the ZTTO has is chain drop when backpedaling in the lowest gear. This doesn't exist on a mid drive........ The top 4 cogs are separate and can be replaced with Shimano stuff.
The 11s Wippermann chain was perfect at 118 pins per the online chain length calculator. I also switched to the Effetto Mariposa Flower Power sunflower seed chain wax. The chain really soaks it up much better than the Squirt wax.. But the Ebike will be the test for that product. Zero Friction (Fiction) Cycling likes it and the 11s chains for long wear. So I'm going that way next.

The experiment with the 11s chain on 8 speed will be going back to the Connex Link instead of the Rohloff cross peened rivet method I've been using. I think the broken Connex was from up shifting w/o pedaling in turns with a stalled chain.Rapid Rise will force an up shift where normal derailleurs won't.Maybe the smooth zip tie shifts will take care of that problem.

I'm going to try this on my XC bike. The only Ebike tie in would be if someone with a hubmotor wants this too. I want both my bikes to shift the same way, so here I go again.

These are just normal configuration freewheels. By turning them 180* and putting them on the crank they become driving instead of driven. Hopefully the small 5 bolt flange is some kind of standard. Luna doesn't have any cranks or BB for this but they do have some Cyclone freewheel/chainring assemblies in stock.
