Bafang 3000 Watt BBSHD TorqueX Controller

I was browsing today , and came across this

Interesting to say the least . But I wonder because it seems to me that this would very much shorten the life of you motor .
Increasing from 1000w to 3000w OMG . You would be doing wheelies and putting some serious stress on the chain and derailleur

I must admit that I have some interest in buying one of these and upgrading the nylon gear to a steel gear .
I have searched the web for feedback and from what I have seen , it is all positive .

I am interested in any feedback from people who have some mechanical knowledge as to any drawbacks of doing this upgrade . I am sure I can handle installing this seeing that I am a ex auto mechanic and have already replaced a controller on a BBHD before with complete success.

So any feedback will be appreciated !

well I was already to order and they are out of stock :( So I settled for upgrading My Nylon Gear to a steel gear and added a lekie one nut .
At least I will have that out of the way when they do get these back in .

ok just got my new steel gear in and wow it is nice . Came with new snap rings and I am surprised by the weight considering its size . Here are some picks

well that was a total flop . Got everything disassembled , swapped out the nylon gear for the steel one . And now I can hear the motor run , but no power to the wheels . Took off the steel chain ring gear cover and pulled the axle . I can see the pinion gear moving , BUT it is very weak meaning I can easily hold the pinion gear with my 2 fingers and stop it from rotating . Weird , any ideas ?
This motor is over 6 yrs old , so maybe some kind of mismatch ?

Edit I must have damaged the pinion gear in some fashion ? well out of time will update this Thursday when I have time to disassemble

ok , I have a working theory , after browsing thru a few You Tube vids I found out that the nylon gear, or steel gear in my case is directional . As You can see from my picks the steel gear looks the same no matter which side I look at . I am betting that I have in installed upside down which would explain My problem . We will see ... stay tuned !

Yep that was the problem , so always know the side of the bearing that has the arrow points downward or in other words goes in 1st so it is not visible . Live and learn ! LOL

Ok , finally after a month they have these 3000 Watt BBSHD TorqueX Controllers back in stock , I just ordered one . I read all the reviews on Golden motor and they seem very favorable . So I ordered one .
My current battery can push 40 amps , not 50. So we will see how that works out .
In any case I post back once i get it installed !

ok , I finally got this controller today , Golden motor was dragging their heals and took over a week to get it to me enen though their website said " In stock ready to ship"

Anyway , I got it installed and went for a short test ride . I can definitely tell the difference . Bike takes off like a rocket , way more torque , I would estimate a 25% increase . More torque in pedal assist in higher gears .
I do question the price VS performance ratio , seems overpriced IMO

I don't see much difference physically from the stock controller and everything fit perfectly . I will post more once I get to go for a real long test run .

Well went for a Test ride , at first all went well but very soon after pushing it to see what it would do , everything just shut down , some kind of icon showed up on my display . I then turned off the display and back on and it came back to life but stared acting weird long , intermittent delays when pedal assist would kick in , throttle not responding intermittently .
I have a Luna Black Box I bought years ago so I hooked that up and loaded Lunas' ludicrous profile . While in their I noticed no real difference in stock setting compared to a standard stock controller .
I suspect that this was a total waste of money .
I will try a 500c display to see if that is the issue , but I dought it

well I stand corrected swapping out displays to my old 500c did the trick , pedal assist and throttle are back in business !
However I do notice a slight decrease in torque . Nothing drastic just slight , more even control . Which I welcome because before I was starting to pop wheelies , LOL Mow more refined and manageable control and still takes off like a bat out of hell .
