    Currie motor question

I have a currie xyd-14a motor rated 32A @36v. I need a new battery and would like to go 48 or 52 volts. Can this motor handle the increased voltage? I know more volts means less current = less heat however I also know I'll just pin it and still over current it but just go faster doing it.

What you said is true as far as the motor goes and it may very well be fine at a higher voltage. The problem is that the voltage must go through the controller to get to the motor and it is very unlikely that a controller spec'd for 36volts won't go up in smoke if fed 52volts.

I'm working on the controller end too which is why I'm wondering about the motor. I've got a 100A controller that I'm not sure of the voltage rating on. It has no nameplate because it fell off at some point. The manufacturer's rep has offered to take it back to check it out for me and tell me what model it is and what it's rated for.
