    BBSHD Programming Cable DIY?

It seems like it wouldn't be too tough to make my own programming cable. Luna is out of stock and I'd like something a little longer anyway.
Does anyone know the pin out of the connectors?

I don't think it's as simple as that.

Thats a common serial to usb adaptor. in/out/gnd The two wires connected together turn the system on.
It's powered by the usb port on the pc.

I dunno - I think it's pretty easy... OTOH I work with these little USB/UART converters quite often and the worst part always seems to be getting RX and TX straight (if you just plain guess you will get them right <25% of the time and if you noodle it more like <10% of the time - thank you Mr. Murphy ;-} ) and the US drivers are way too often a big pain...

I meant USB drivers... although US drivers are a big pain too =]

You can create you own cable but even the most experienced sat it's not worth it. Here's a link to a well regarded BBSxx blogger who in discussing the pros and cons of build versus buy provides links to how to build.

For information on the programming parameters and what they do you should check out The Hackers Guide to Programming the BBS02 located here. UPDATE: The BBSHD is programmed in the exact same way wi…

I bought one.... But I'd build one without hesitation if they were out-of-stock...

I've been using some very inexpensive (~$5?) ones that I've not needed drivers for (windows recognized them without any help). I'll check if I can find a link...

Last time I bought these they were $5-$6 - looks like they're $10 now:

Super easy, just make sure it's a decent USB cable. Rated for the Windows version you will use.

I'd like to start a new thread about this... I had a hard time to find all of the info i need in the other thread.. so here is a start. all i know is that: we need': -A TTL converter (cheap off ebay) -A special cable -A computer and a software any more? hope this is a start.. Don't forget...

I bought a programmer last year but I'll be danged if I can't find it. I just finished another build and desperately wanted to load Karls el file so I resorted to this. I would not recommend it but it worked. I had some cheap speaker wire so I used a small safety pin and reamed out the cut off ends and slipped them over the male pins.
