I just spent about 5 minutes trying to log-in here until I finally found the gray bar at the top of the page. All of my attention was going to the page proper. I was going nuts until I saw it. Just a statement/question, not a suggestion or problem I guess.

When I 1st joined I had the same issue , till I finally figured it out.

It's very easy for that to be scrolled off the top of the page where you can't see it. If you scroll down to something and need to log in to reply it's very easy to not scroll all the way back up and have it hidden. Even if it's not hidden it looks like part of the task bar in the browser above it.
