Forum Fixes and wishlist and improvements

Post here your ideas on how to make our forum a better place to post in.

We are struggling with this latest version of Vbulletin (version 5) to make it what we want to do. We are limited by the software but we are doing our best to make it better.

When searching, the search bar will delete some words. I searched for Bafang Hub Motor. The search engine deleted the word Hub. I search for Bafang Hub and the search engine deletes the word Hub again.

ah, no worries then. i just never encountered that before on a vbulletin forum so i wasnt sure if there was a problem. i have waited up to 1-3 minutes before.

That is actually typical of Vbulletin, it just takes a long time to post. Even posting on the support forum for the developers of Vbulletin it takes that long. If you wait long it will finish.

edit: timed it. it took 23 seconds to finish working.

I am not sure there is a fix for this besides a completely different forum software. I'll see if I can ask the developers about some sort of optimization though.

i have been having an issue with the forum since first signing up: when i try to post it never actually says it finished posting until i hit the refresh button. if i dont refresh it just says "working" in perpetuity. also when i refresh it says in the reply area that there is saved text and wants to know if i wish to restore or discard. if i restore it just shows what i posted... a little odd. does it in chrome and opera if it matters. not going to use edge and i hate firefox anymore.

That's great. Thanks for the whitelist and the tips :).

I added your account to a whitelist which should cut down on it somewhat.

Only thing it will not cut down on is if you go back and re-edit the post to add links, vbulletin devs tel me there is no way to whitelist keeping that from going back into moderation if doing so. I guess it used to be a typical tactic of spammers to leave an innocuous message then insert the spam later, so they made that change to the mod filter.

Twice in the last week I have been blocked from posting due to the forum detecting possible spam in my post. It seems a bit sensitive as there definitely wasn't any spam. Are there particular words I shouldn't use to avoid this issue? I am blocked right now from a post I made this morning. In it I used the word 'supplier'. Is that a risky word to use forum-spam-detection wise?

Not really a way to do that without turning off the anti-spam service altogether unfortunately. They just do not offer that level of customization.

Can you turn-off your Spam Filter that locks a post just for editing a post twice within a short time? I like to correct formatting and spelling issues with my posts, but every time I need to edit more than once after my initial post my post gets blocked as spam and needs approval.

    Thanks.

My buddy Alan B. told me about this forum as soon as it opened, and this same thing happened to me. I looked and looked, But I did not see the "Login/Register" letters. I contacted my buddy back (because he had registered already). He told me that you just have to look real carefully.

Can something be done about the color of the top-most bar where the login/sign up link is located? It's the exact same color as the bookmark bar in Firefox, and I literally sat here for 15 minutes trying to figure out why there was no login link at the top of the forum. That top bar blends in so perfectly it appears like it's part of the Firefox browser window and not part of the page itself, so my eyes were not focusing there for awhile while trying to figure out how to log in. It wasn't until I went to this site in Chrome did I see the top bar, because the top of the Chrome window is just slightly different enough of a color to make the "Login or Sign Up" bar more noticeable.

I would appreciate any compartmentalization for frame building. I will definitely have a whole lot of good stuff to put in there, including pictures and videos.
