    Electric Bike Safety

One of the most important things to practice while learning to ride a bike is how to fall without the risk of serious injury. How to fall off without getting hurt? You should always make sure that you and your bike are perfectly safe before you set off for the road. Never, Ever Use Your Hands.Resist the urge to fall on your hands.
The truth is that if you ride your bike with any regularity, you will eventually fall off of it. And remember: the most important part of falling off your bike is getting back on again.

I wish I had done that when I started mountain biking (unassisted) a few years, errr, decades ago. My hands look and feel much older than the rest of me.

Agreed, the "getting back on" part is really important. :-) And please, where a helmet! I have fallen twice -- on one fall, my thigh and upper arm took the brunt of the force...no problem. The other fall, also no problem, but my helmet was punctured just above my left ear. The hole was about the diameter of a #2 pencil.

You should check this thread. https://electricbike.com/forum/forum...ety-discussion

I am the only cyclist I have seen with a full-face helmet. I don't do downhill stuff though.

There are sveral Youtube videos of how BMX rider learn to crash safely. Not all of the moves are applicable to seniors I'm afraid. But stepping forward out of an OTB situation looks cool as hell.
My approach on a sideways crash is to keep my hands on the bars and let the handlebars take the hit. When I've done this it steers the front tire into the ground, lifting to bike up off of your leg also.

Accidents or crashing happen so fast. You have to train your brain & body if your serious about your riding.

It does not hurt to learn/practice Ju-Jitzshu, karate, twi kon do or kung fu. (Spell-check isn`t working)
At 70 years old this has saved me numerous times. (Who needs yoga when you got a dirt or mountain bike)
Never use your hands to break a fall. learn to tuck your shoulder and roll with the momentum.
2 years ago I bought a Electric Surron light bee, which came with a 19-Inch front tire.
I`ve been thrown over the handlebar numerous times when I hit a rut or hole.
No big deal because I know how to roll. (I jump back up on my feet as part of my kung fu training)
I don`t have this problem with my MX or Dual-Sport dirt bikes because of the 21-inch front tire.

If you break your wrist or hand, you might not be able to brake, throttle, or hold on.
