Which cheapy battery is more reliable under harsh conditions?

    Cheapest SLA or Cheapest LIFePO4?

I bought 4 LiFePO4 12V 10AH for $37 each on Amazon for a home build . Had to return one that was only 3 volts and wouldn't charge. Then I installed all 4 and it goes to empty as soon as I accelerate. I'm beginning to think these cheap LiFePO4 batteries are crap, so I'm going to return them? Is there a cheap battery that will work with a 48V system? I've been using the $30 SLA's on Cleveland, Ohio roads since 2020 with no problems, but I only ride maybe 5 times per month. I don't know much about this stuff so any help is appreciated.

Heck you post more info on this post. You already figured that China batteries are untrustworthy. Anyways, all my tips are on the other post. :)

What is your choice of 12V or 48V LiFePO4's that can withstand the constant bouncing on an Ebike and being stored in a cold and moist garage in spring/fall, with winters getting down to 0F ?

Lipo4 is proven to be safer than Liion so I am not as concerned with home storage as I am Liion. Partly because they only hold half the energy per cell that Liions hold. So it's not near as volatile. So I would look at Youtube reviews to find good batteries. Some of those even bust the batteries open to see if you get what you pay for. Chinese labeled batteries are most always going to be dirt cheap. And that's because they cheat on everything. Low capacity and low quality. They could even be missing a BMS and you would never know. So google search Lipo4 battery reviews and Look up videos. There's tons of them to check out. With the low usage you do, you might get good usage out of just 4 Lipo4s if you didnt have that great big motor. That is what will demand heavy current. A 10ah SLA can easily give you 40 amps short burst. Most Lipo4s of the same size cant do that. Only the high dollar ones. So double up whatever you choose and it should work out for your needs. And they have very long life spans on average compared to SLA. But I cant deny that I am amazed at the SLA I have that's still going after 22 years. I hit the jackpot on that battery. The factory forgot to add the aging compound to that battery.

Maybe SST forgot to add a dot (.) )between the 2`s.
Is that 2.2 years or 22 years. Curious about Aging Compound.??

Yup, I know what you mean. I am a monster Reaganite. He was one of the wisest men that ever walked the planet. And he did so much to make America so great. And we should never forget the things he taught us. Among his greatest lessons, Trust, but Verify. I worship that guy. Pics coming shortly. :)

Opps, I guess my memory isn't as good as it used to be. My battery is only 18 years old. Oh well, I suspect it's still out of warranty, hah. Yup, and its still got plenty of power to run my winch for the heavy stuff I do at home. This battery has never been removed from my winch lift since I bought it new in 2005. I thought it was 2001, but I guess not that far back. :) They didn't scratch off the label but they melted the date into the side.

Your hub motor draws likely more then the batteries BMS can deliver.

"Lithium batteries have a current (Amp) limit where their BMS board will shut down the battery's output power to protect the battery from overheating when too much current is being demanded from it. For example if a lithium battery has a maximum continuous discharge current of 30 Amps and a speed controller demands 31 Amps from it for more than a few seconds then the lithium battery's BMS board will shut the battery down."

yours is a 10AH couldent find it but the 6ah is only 10 amp BMS (battery management system)

Wiring in series only increases voltage not amps

Its hard to beat the system with cheap batteries !

Looks like you built a cool bike big hub and rear shock.

Buy one of these blue cube batteries

Read the reviews their not all fake.

I use a cheap blue cube battery from amazon it works well.

I am not sure your batteries BMS the problem but I think so.

Those blue cube batteries are not LiFePO4, are not as safe, and are not what the OP asked about.

Ignore the JerkuitSmith trolls. When you got crappers dumping on people for helping out, then you got trolls running the show. And that is the most ignorant show anybody could be watching. I just dare that shit head to lay off that other fellow and say jack squat about my post you stupid JerkuitSmith morron. Ill tear your ass up for the mongrels on the streets. Get the hell back to your slimy troll cave. And you damn "moderators" whoever you are. NOBODY tells me how to defend myself. Fuck anybody that gets in my way. Because I'm a freight train when I'm attacked. So if you cant stomack my crushing my haters, then get my haters out of here. Because this forum created this Troll mess that's in here. So don't you DARE blame me for my right to self defense. Because I use every inch of my rights everywhere I go.
