    Chainring

I have the BBSHD on a mountain bike and want to put a 52 tooth chainwheel on it. I see that the 52 is offered as a part for the 02 motor but not the HD. Is there a reason for this?

No 52t stock chainring was built by bafang for bbshd. We make an eclipse with 48t.. Lekkie makes a 52t but we are currently out of this one.

Speaking of lekkie. When might you have the 46 tooth for bbshd paxtana??

Not too sure. Might be a while, usually takes a while to get restocks from them.

So then the 52 that I have for my 02 won’t fit on the HD?

Nope. The bolt patterns are not the same. Also even if it probably would not give you enough offset for a good chain line

Hey if Luna is out you can always buy from someone else. http://lekkie.bike/shop/bling-ring-hd-2/ That is Lekkie's site they have a list of American suppliers. Luna has the best price though.

I checked just about everywhere. No 46 to be found and at the price lekkie direct wants and other vendors if they had it I would get the eclipse 48 lol

How about that ugly heavy stock chain ring just to tide you over. It's $25. http://lunacycle.com/bbshd-46t-stock-steel-chainring/

Na. I will just get the eclipse 48. It is not that much more than what Luna wanted for the lekkie 46 when they had them and I bet there is going to be a price increase on the lekkie. Plus I can get the eclipse in red neck red lol

I have an Eclipse 42. It is a nice piece of work.

If I put a 52 volt battery on the 02 setup, replacing the 48v that’s currently on that bike, will I gain speed?

Of course you will. I start out with 58 volts or so and the bike is nice and lively but when I get down into the high forties it feels a little sluggish. I am sure you will feel the same way with a 48 volt battery. When the voltage drops you will feel the difference

If the batteries have the same amp/hours the 52 volt battery will give you more watts and more range. If you could test two identical bikes one 52 volts and the other 48 I don't think you would want to ride the 48 volt rig. Before people start hollering at me let me say that you could get the same feel with 48 volts but it would require more amps and cut down your range.

                      One bike has the 02 , 52 t, 48v. I want to go faster so my idea is a 52 v which I have.
other setup is HD, 46t, 52v, . I want to go faster so my idea is 52t.
A m I on the right track here?

There is practically no air resistance below 12 mph. Say you need 350 watts to go 15 mph. A rule of thumb inverse square law says that to double speed you need 4 times the power. 350 X 4 = 1400 watts. This sounds reasonable to me because it fits with what I am seeing with my BBSHD. You may be at a point that another 5 mph is out of reach for your motor

I just got an edge 1500 going and it is crazy fast but it doesn't climb like a BBSXX.
