Metric tire options?

Looking to see if any of the metric tire sizes are an option for my 27.5x2.2. Since 27.5x2.54=698.5 and 2.2x2.54=55.88 does that mean 700's would fit? Doesn't seem that simple with standards of inner/outer and different tim measurement locations. Have read all different sizing articles and more confused than when i started. Just want to have more options. Any suggestions?

If two tires are marked with sizes that are mathematically equal,
but one is expressed as a decimal and the other as a fraction,
these two tires will not be interchangeable.
