26x4 tire on a 26x3 rim ANY PROBLEM?

Starting on a new e bike. A little curve threw at project. I got a mongoose fat bike 26x4 and ended up with a 26x3 rear hub motor rim. The 26x4 tube and tire did fit. 26x4 front tire and rim does look different with the mixed rear hub and tire sizes. There no rubbing anywhere. The rear just looks a little narrower. and slightly taller. The rear axel bolted down nicely . Will I run into problems with the mixed rim and tire sizes.

A 3" rim should be fine for a tire up to around 5".

If it were me, I would try to run the same sized tire and rim in the front and rear, but I like symmetry.

Sometimes it is not practical, however. I run 26" X 105mm rims in the front, but nobody makes a rim that I felt was good enough for a 36h rear hub, so I have 26" X 82mm in the rear, all with the same tire. Like you, the tire is more narrow and taller on the more narrow rim, as it would be per the laws of physics.

In your case, I'd call it close enough and ride it.
