You guy's are on it! What a blast e-bikes are. Doesn't go away. For me the stock HD controller is tons of power, It will flip me over climbing around if I'm not careful! With a mighty mini sprocket it still goes faster then I normally want to go. Maybe for a few minutes, for an extra thrill, but 30+ mph is not that safe on a bicycle! To me it's the quiet, comfortable cruising, like flying low to the ground! Happy Motoring, e-rod

With the "off road" programing, its more like 1500W peak. Get a hold of a Ludicrous controller and your up to almost 3000W!!! All with a motor still stamped as a 750W making it legal on US streets(well grey/legal...lol). Just wrapping up my rebuild with a Ludicrous controller. Can not wait.

The HD will be awesome for you. Easiest install, and plenty of power if you buy it tweaked from Luna.

welcome Murph83, from NorCal. Mike's right, stay out of the bike stores. No power, no added thrill of riding your own creation and way to much money. Study the build articles here and find a good used mtb and put a bbshd kit with a mity mini sproket on it and a lone wolf battery or a big triangle battery and you will smile that kid smile with the wind in your hair before you know it! Welcome. My biggest advice would be to check out the builds pages. A ton of technical info on all sorts of bikes. I was looking into buying a pre-built e-bike a couple years ago, as I knew NOTHING about bikes beyond what I had learned as a child. I did not think I could build one, much less better than those sold at a much higher price. I went with the BBSHD as it is pretty install friendly, and works on many frames. I installed it on a cheep cruiser style wally world bike, and was hooked. Within months, I was building a custom bike from scratch. I got the exact bike I wanted, for less than I could believe. And can fix/ upgrade any and all parts without visiting the bike shop, except for emergency parts. Read up, and believe in yourself. If I can do this, anyone can.
