Rubbing/Rattle noise on new Sur Ron Black Edition

    Hello!

Total noob here. I just received the bike yesterday and I'm getting this weird rattle/rub noise from what sounds like somewhere in the chain/drive/belt area but cant figure out whats causing it. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Link to video below:

    Thanks!

Sorry, I can't help you with that, but I recently bought an X1 and like your stand idea. Do you know where I can find corrugated/honeycombed cardboard block like yours? Thanks!

Sounds fairly normal to me? Just the chain interfacing with the teeth of the sprocket. A gas dirtbike would probably be just as loud if the gasoline engine wasn't drowning it out

Yes when you roll a dirt-bike with 420-520 chain there is a dull rattly roar. Actually sur ron is a little quieter than big brother because there are no tensioners, guides, or wear blocks on the little electric dirt-bike.

justalittlemoreground mine came with the bike in the shipping package.
paxtana I dont think thats a normal noise as I've watched 100s of videos of this bike being run.

Hey, also new to this and have the same noise going...
I guess it could be normal indeed.

Just got a Sur Ron light bee Black edition and it’s making a rubbing noise out of the drivetrain, see link. Does not sound good. Is this normal? Sounds like the belt. Link is a wav of 4 mph.

100% normal noise. If you didnt have an O-Ring chain it would be much more emphasized. The noise you hear is the small sprocket grabbing the chain links as they bend and straighten out again, almost a slapping noise against the sprocket. As you ride it more, the chain will cut into the sprocket teeth and quiet down a tad. The other noise behind that is the humming of the electric motor and belt drive. If you dont keep your chain lubed, it will get louder. I dont hear a problem here! youre good mate!

Dude, the hoise i hear with yours is different and partial...meaning it isnt persistent witht he entire revolution of the sprocket. Also, it could be that the mic is so close the sprocket and changing the effect of the actual noise. Can you record a video of you riding with the noise happening? ...even if slow.

              Thanks!

The chain is probably a little tight, mine did the same thing until I had 25+ miles then it settled down completely. I have noticed many of the Surron's ship pretty tight. Alternatively you can set the chain tension correctly before your ride but you'll probably end up setting it again after a few miles because it will stretch just a little when new. I work for an electric motorcycle company and when I get a chain drive bike in I take the time to adjust the chain before we deliver them, there is always a little inconsistency in chain tension from the factory. Those bikes use a 520 chain so stretch is minimal.

Probably check the controller , I had the same noise in one of my ebikes it sounded as if the tire was rubbing on the frame , turned out to be a couple of wires that had rubbed through , after re insulating them no more noise
