Can a sensored controller be used on a sensorless motor?

A short and quick answer would be... no.

If you look at this thread under testing a motor's hall sensors, (there are actually three...) it will give you a better understanding between sensored and un-sensored motors and their controllers...

Keep in mind though, some controllers are often capable of doing both. (running sensored and un-sensored) So check your controller documentation carefully.
