Bafang BBSHD 1000, have power, will not run

    hello all,
I have power to my controller, no throttle and no PAS.
    bike just stopped working.
    thanks for any help.

The "30H" error on the bottom of the display is the display can't communicate with the motor. Has the bike recently fallen or been left out in the rain?

There's a couple of connectors to check and reseat. The first one is the main harness connector - the righthand one in this picture:

The connection is usually located about a foot from the motor - just unplug it and replug it, being very cautious to properly align the arrows.

On to the next connector, which is part of the same wiring harness, but close to the display (the green one in the above picture).

If the display still reports the 30H error and there's been no damage to the display or the harness, I'd suspect the motor controller.

Thank you so much For your help, I turned the power off and disconnected and reconnected everything, looks like no damage to any of the wiring, the PAS light does not turn on when I rotate the wheel and the magnet crosses it and it is close enough.

I also disconnected the controller wires, replug them in, same display and no power

No water in the system and no damage

That's unfortunate - then I'd suspect the motor controller. You may want to first try and bypass the display. The programming cable will do this if you have one, otherwise there's a write-up here. Doing so should power up the motor (lighting up the speed sensor LED) and the PAS assist should work.

Yes sir, the speed LED, is not lighting up as it passes the magnet.
do you think it’s the controller or the wiring harness?

The LED lights opposite. When the motor controller turns on, the LED comes on. It winks off momentarily when the magnet passes by.

Error 30 could be any of the three (harness being cheapest, then display, then controller) - but if there's not been any physical damage to the harness and display, I would then suspect the controller.

An often missed physical damage to the motor side of the harness is the harness being pinched between the motor and the bike frame (shown in the write-up).

Thank you so much everyone’s help, I’ll order a harness first and see if that fixes it

                  Hello electric bike people.
I am still having the same problem after trying a different harness and a new controller same thing.
same 30 H and no power. any more suggestions

                    Hello all,
I am at a loss, I have bought a new controller, harness, checked all connections and still have 30H what can it be?
                    this is driving me crazy.
No water in the motor, no burn or heat on any of the connections. Motor just stopped, no throttle and no PAS, also the LED does not light up or wink when it passes the magnet.
                    any help please.
                    much thanks

Hey kingwouldbe, what area of So Cal do you live? If you're close enough to North County San Diego I have enough known working parts (motors, batteries, displays etc.) to test on your bike to isolate the problem. Mark

Hi Mark, in in Valencia, north LA county. If I can’t get this thing running I might take you up on that offer.
                        Thanks so much

                      Hi kingwouldbe,

First off, did you bypass the display as mentioned above? This is easily done using a programming harness with the display removed. Then check for operation. Otherwise...

From your description I would suspect you've lost the 5vdc regulated power from the energized controller. (powered up from display, programming cable or manual jumper...)

Items that use this power supply include, PAS, throttle, gear sensor, speed sensor, and the motor's hall sensor circuit. As well as of course, the controller's communication chip.

I would recommend finding an easy location to monitor this voltage, first to see if it's there. And secondly to keep an eye on it whist you go about trouble shooting. (keeping an eye on the speed sensor LED might help also, at least while it's still connected or watching when the error code disappears from the display) This map should aid you on where different voltages are located. Note: I would recommend powering down your system and disconnect battery before connecting or disconnecting any connectors... watch those pins! Let the controller's capacitors discharge for a minute after shutting down.

As it's usually recommended to disconnect the brake switch connections during troubleshooting, that would be a reasonable place to set up your meter monitoring... (leads between pins 6 & 8 on the 3 pin connector)
Check for 5vdc with the controller energized. If it's present, check back and let me know. If not (which I suspect...) I'm hoping that one of the above-mentioned devices that use this power is bad and perhaps shorting out the power supply. Your goal is to disconnect them one item at a time, then check to see if 5vdc has been restored. Hopefully when reset after the damaged device is located and removed from the system, the 5vdc regulator will be undamaged leaving you to just replace the offending part or wiring.

Items known to take down the 5vdc voltage supply... bad throttle, PAS sensor board, gear sensor, speed sensor... you get the idea. This can also include damaged wiring, but let's get a bit of feedback to me first.

If you're not clear on my suggestions or would like further explanation on something. Please let me know! Good luck.

                      Respectfully submitted,
                      T.C.

Thanks for all of your help, no I have not by passed the display, have to get that cable, I replace the controller with a new one, I also swapped the harness, I don’t have the ebreaks hooked up.
I did the harness 1st, then the controller 2nd think this has to be it, nothing changed with great disappointment,.
I will order the cable to see if by passing the display is it.
everything on the display looks good.

                        I don’t know what the 5vdc is.

FYI, The throttle first stopped working, then the PAS stopped working. I don’t know if that would help you in recommending what could be the problem, I have eliminated the controller and the harness, I have to be narrowing it down lol .

Yay! yay! so awesome, I think it’s the throttle.
by eliminating all other components once I disconnected the throttle “ 30 H “ is gone.
                          thank you guys
