I need help troubleshooting these connections

I recently bought a huffy cruiser converted to an ebike. It worked when I tried it out. However, as nonsensical as this sounds, I unplugged the connections in order to change the battery and I cannot figure out how to reconnect the wires. Picture down below. My understanding is the power cable from the battery has a positive and a neutral. However, the other cable has a positive, neutral, and a motor phase wire. The two connectors don't match up. I don't understand how the bike previously worked. What am I missing? Please help.

Greetings and welcome to the forum. Since your bike is a D.I.Y. conversion, I'd look for two connections coming directly out of the battery pack, with one like, or that mates with the yellow one in your hand. Almost always on D.I.Y. bikes this is the way the battery packs are configured - two connectors: one charge and one output.

There isn't a broadly accepted standard for charging connectors.

Then I'd tackle plugging back together any connections you undid.

Providing complete info on the bike's motor type/brand helps.

Thanks for the reply. I can find out the exact motor name. The thing is, I didn't mess with any of the connections. All I literally did was take the bike home. I took it for a quick ride. I brought it in my garage. I unplugged the connection so that I could plug in the battery. After the battery was charged, all I needed to do was reconnect the connections, and they don't connect. The person I bought it from had all the other wires taped up. I can't access the other wires without undoing the tape. Does any of this make sense?

Are you saying the two connector halves in your hand were connected but now you can't get them back together? Is that the connection you used to charge the battery? There is normally a dedicated charge port that does not need to be disconnected to connect a charger. I can't see what is wired to the yellow connector in your hand. Is that just a plug to isolate the contacts in the white connector?

ummm??? whats that yellow connector in the background that has a black and red wire attached to it? looks like it has an adapter of sorts that is "shrink tubed" to it.

The connector in the background is the one that's coming off of the battery charger that connects to the power cable that I'm holding in my hand. I'm assuming the guy who put all this together bought the battery charger with the battery and they already had those connectors on there or he put those connectors on there.

The yellow connector in my hand connects to the battery. It's the power cable that needs to connect to the motor control. But like I said, the power that goes to the motor control has three different wires, a white, a black, and a blue. Also, the connector doesn't match up with the connector that goes to the battery. Again, I realize this doesn't make any sense and it almost seems like some kind of witchcraft. Like I said to the other guy, I'm assuming the person who bought this setup got the battery and the battery charger together. Either it already came with the cables on there or he put the yellow connectors on there so that they match up. But the cable that comes off of the motor control seems to have connectors that were already built in and they don't match up with the one that is on the power cable that goes to the battery.

The yellow connector that you mention goes to the battery charger is not the conventional charging connector....that type connector is normally connected to battery power....used to connect the battery to the controller.
How many and what style connectors are leaving the battery pack?
Do you have to disconnect a connector to charge the battery?
                Is the charger mounted onboard?
Were those connectors in your hand originally connected together?

Take a picture of the old battery pack and the connectors plus the new battery pack and connectors and lat your charger to the side. This may help!
