.sorry, I was gone a while. I ended up with the advanced charger and it works great. I still have the mini charger as a backup.

I see a few issues. You have the two sets of wires from the battery, a charge set +/- and a discharge set +/-. I would only connect the charger to the charge set of wires from the battery. Both sets of wires go to the BMS in the battery pack. The BMS takes current in through the charge wires and distributes it to the cells in the pack. The BMS puts current out to the controller through the discharge set of wires. The charger when it is for 48v battery should always have a higher output voltage than 48v pack, eg 52-58v. The BMS in your battery pack and your controller should not allow over-discharging to 40-43v pack voltage. If you can not recharge normally after replace fuse or reset switch if needed, then yes, it is time for the service and/or parts.

Please email support@lunacycle.com with your order number and mention the clicking mini. In the meantime, leave it clicking/working and somewhere above 50V it will charge normally and it should top off the battery. Then avoid voltages below 50-51V resting until you have the fix or another charger.

I just finished my first build yesterday and I am new to having an ebike. Unfortunately, I have the same issue concerning the 52V 3amp Luna Mini Charger- just clicks on and off. I have emailed support and am awaiting an answer. An exchange or an adapter would be a good solution.

That's fine just ask whoever you speak with to have the case assinged to Gary so I can take care of the details.

Actually I wanted a second battery and a smaller chain ring as you'll see in an email to support today that was sent yesterday. But I wasn't about to order that stuff when what I got from you isn't functioning.

No, it's not doing damage. Please see the below video on how a charger works. It is supposed to have a trickle charge function at the end of the charge cycle to top off the pack, but for whatever reason that batch of chargers thinks it needs to do this at a lower voltage than it would otherwise. We were not aware of the issue until recently and which was introduced through no fault of our own by the factory contracted to do the manufacturing, and it's been even less time since we determined the cause and got a sample adapter that shows the issue resolved in testing.

But like I have said repeatedly, if you would prefer a different charger we can do that. Since you bought a bike I could probably even swing getting you an upgraded advanced charger but we would not be able to ship this as quickly as the standard since the advanced charger is backordered for the next few days.

First off I'll apologize because somehow I missed your post about replacing it. I wasn't talking about damage to the battery. I've been using RC cars for over 35 years. I know a trickle charge won't damage the battery, if anything it's better. I was referring to the charger. Its literally turnimg on and off 86400 times a day, it's been running for 4 days. That charger has turned on and off approximately 350,000 times. That I would like replaced with the adaptor. I'm not asking for an upgrade. I just want what I paid for. Second I'll apologize for posting like an ass but you have to understand that I use (Or wanted to) this bike for a commuter. It's only about 10 miles a day. I admit to not fully understanding Lipo batteries and will be reading quite a bit about them after this incident. I just opened a CNC machine shop and as expected there were problems and I ended up going waaaay over budget, hence buying this bike and selling my vehicle. If I made parts wrong for a customer who I charged and just said sorry, that's how it goes I wouldn't have any customers.

I used to get frustrated beyond belief with my DIY ebikes until I realized that most of what I learn arises from problemsolving events. I honestly enjoy when something goes wrong now because I realize that I will be learning something new.

I don't know how you have the patience to deal with folks who don't believe Luna sells a DIY product finished bike or not. While lovingly hand built and customized with bitchin innovative carbon and aluminum bling, it's still a Chinese product with Chinese components and accessories, and this is always going to require a bit of fiddling and have some QC issues. Don't you sometimes just want to tell them to go buy an overpriced warrantied Bosch product and leave the fast bikes to those that know how to roll with a punch?

I had the same issue with the 48V mini charger. I plugged my 52V full size advanced charger into my dead 48V battery. The battery and charger seemed happy and charging progressed. After 30 minutes (at 46V) I swapped back to the 48V mini to completed the charge. The mini is nice and compact, but it cannot cope with low battery voltage. Get the full size advance charger is my advice.

And no one thinks that this charger clicking on and off every second for a week is doing damage to it? This is years of use in days.

Your company was a DIY parts supplier, but as said on the website you are now carrying fully completed bikes. If I wasn't on my phone I would post the screenshots i have. So being that it's not a DYI project, support needs to be offered.

No, 49v of a 52v nominal pack is not enough to pass the threshold for normal charging. A 52v nominal pack goes up to 58.8, as such the voltage in the pack right now is less than halfway.
Yes it will reset once it passes the threshold or the adapter we are sending you is plugged in.
No it's not bad for the battery, trickle charging is not bad for a battery at all, quite the opposite actually.
    Yes we will send priority.
As I stated if you are in a hurry we can exchange it, since we already have the other chargers on hand.
