An unknown object in the battery

Hello
I try to repair a battery (replace the cells)
The Yamaha battery will enter protection mode when this object is connected to the BMS. I do not know what it is . The termoelement is glued to the other side. Can not it be a second termoelement anyway?

Some sort of temperature protection sensor IMO. No idea what "termoelement" is?

There is usually a thermal sensor and a fusible link but your photo is more of a question than an answer.
