Battery Cradle / Mount for Dolphin Packs

Hi guys, Just purchased a new Cradle due to one of the plastic components totally disintegrated (see photo) I would appreciate some feedback on this matter as replacement isn't cheap, have anybody experienced this kind of problem? Thank you for taking the time to help. Regards Clem

What the heck did you do to it?

Maybe you can't explain it, but the guy who borrowed your bike and crashed it, knocking off the battery could tell a story. Oh well, maybe you can glue it back together.

Mount the major pieces to the battery to align them. Attach the metal part to the cradle. Then perhaps two support pieces can be added under the plastic to add strength. Just don't glue the battery to the cradle. JB-weld epoxy to metal is not the best, but it's what I'd try.

Thanks for the suggestion but I think I will use the new cradle and be more careful the way I attach it to the frame, at least this was the explanation I was given by Luna. I was asking you the more experienced people if this has happened before to others...

That looks like a pretty robust mount. That doesn't seem like you could damage that by mounting it, assuming your mounting holes are lined up straight. I have twisted a flexible shark mount when I had a hole drilled in the mount slightly off center and the whole system was under tension.

I just inquired about a spare mount for my Shark pack, it was 30 some dollars, so not too expensive? I want it so I can pull the Shark out of it's bolted to the frame fat bike cradle, and then slide it into another cradle, that will be stubbed out to plug into my Montague's XT 90 plug. It would be strapped to my rear rack, with padding, and serve as a range extender for the big rides. I'd also try the JB Weld idea, after first scuffing the plastic up a bit with 80 grit sandpaper, and I'd also scuff up any aluminum used as a backer plate.

Thanks, I think the problem could have been caused by overtightening the bolts.
