Creaking cranks

Any ideas on how to stop creaking cranks on my BBSHD?.
I have retightened them several times and tried Loctite, but within a few miles the creak returns on every down stroke of the pedals .

Get some better crank arms like Shimano Steps.

Not sure it's that easy. I've got the Shimano cranks fitted now and also suffer creaky crank syndrome. I figure it's just the Achilles heal of a square power transmission shaft as apprised to a spline. ( or my massively powerful legs) only solution is to re tighten every week or two and apply lock tight.
Other issue I've noticed is spokes that regularly need re tensioning. They could easily be misdiagnosed as crank squeak.

The spoke issue is symptomatic of to little tension and or uneven tension. I have not done many wheels but the spokes need to be pretty tight. Tracking down noises can be very hard. I was at a small LBS and was talking to the owner while he was tuning a customers bike. I was horrified by how much torque he was putting on the crank arms even though all of My T-handle Allen's have a twist that I have put in them. He could see the look on my face and said "I have to do this because these idiots loosen everything"

Hi Calfee. I starting to think your right. What I always considered tight to be as apprised to what's required for the extra loads and torques on e bikes. Tighten until stripped then back off half a turn- not quite, but progressively tightening cranks and spokes up.

The last time I thought my crank was squeaky it turned out to be the seat. Another bike has a squeak I believe from the suspension somewhere.

I once found my front Chainring was the source of a perceived crank squeak. Was loose, just a little. My motor being loose, and a bad pedal bearing, have also similarly seemed like crank noises. Not saying you are wrong, just insight of things to consider.

I like to oil joints, one by one, to diagnose squeak. If you can change the noise with oil, you found the source. Same with tightening bolts. Do one at a time, then check. Helps pinpoint.
