    Anderson connectors melted together?

Has anyone seen or experienced their Anderson connectors melting together? The photos below may not show it clearly, but when I tried to disconnect the battery from the motor yesterday, I had trouble pulling them apart. There was a bit of a smooth bulge at the connection that looked like they had been melted somehow. To my knowledge, nothing was different than any of the other hundreds of times I have connected or disconnected or run the battery and motor together.

I have a set of XT90 pigtails that I’ve been planning to use to replace the Anderson connectors anyway, but I’m sort of concerned something is wrong somewhere to have caused this to happen.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

The red/black Andersons are 15/30/45A depending on the metal interiors. I would be a bit concerned about the heat that was generated because the plastic is very durable.

So any ideas what could cause that level of heat? I'm running a stock 30 Amp BBSHD controller. Battery is a 13S 5P pack. Not sure what specific cells they are, but I've never had an issue before. I've benn riding the bike similarly for almost a year.

Using a connector over it's amperage rating will cause heat and failure. As will a bad electrical connection, loose, dirty, not tightly connecting or making good contact. If your amperage readings are still normal I'd change the connector and move on. No amp meter? I'd highly recommend installing one as it is an invaluable tool to keep track of the health and operation of your system.
