    36v 500w 750w ????

    I have a 20" fold up bycicle it has a 36v 750w motor, can I run a 500w battery or do I need a 750w battery?

You can run any battery, just means it will die faster.

The wattage listed on the motor (36v 750w) just means the total OUTPUT of the MOTOR is 750w. The battery watt rating means something different. My battery packs are listed at 650Wh. A watt is not the exact same thing as a watt hour. My motor has a max output of aprox 1500w. Yet I ran that off a 650Wh battery. The higher the Wh (watt hour) rating the more distance you will get. If you only plan to go a few miles per trip a small 36v 200wh may be enough. think of the watt hour as the SIZE of your gas tank(how much fuel you CAN store)and the motor watt rating as how much power your motor puts out(kinda like horse power rating). I prefer a larger battery and only charge to 80% to more than double the life of the battery pack. These packs are not cheap, treat them easy.
Just be sure the VOLTAGE is ok for your motor.. My motor can use 46v up to 52v. But if your motor only accepts up to 36v dont get anything with a higher voltage rating.
