Loud Clicking Noise During Acceleration, Under Load (BBSHD)

    #2
I have a similar clicking noise when under load. My current build is a Momentum Fat bike with 7 speed freewheel. I only have the noise when in the middle gears 4-5. I the noise disappears in 1, 2, and 3 (smaller sprockets). I think and hope its just an alignment issue with the chain. Speed 1 or the smallest sprocket for instance works great, and is in perfect alignment. I will be posting a write up in the builds area. If you have similar observations like the gears, please update and that would rule out the motor

Might be a tight chain link. I'd hand wiggle the individual links to see if you have one that is too tight.

Thanks for input, I'm climbing steep road in 2 gear, checking chain is good idea. When I took chain off I popped out the master link pin all the way out and had a bugger of a time putting back in, maybe sticking there...?
Got my socket also, man! $120 bucks after exchange and shipping to B.C. Canada

Ok, torqued down motor 100 ft pounds checked each chain link not frozen relubed chain and realigned wheel a bit, when spinning wheel freely I noticed very slight clicking sound, thought it might be brake pads, so I aligned it differently and went for test ride and still there clunking sound while climbing . But it comes and goes, I think it's in the drive line, the motor might have 200 km on it and it was quiet in the begining, the chain line isn't the greatest in 1 or 2 gear , but I tried it in higher gears and still there. I'll keep isolating.

Since you have not isolated exactly where the sound is coming from, it could also be the Bottom Bracket of your bike(maybe need new or regrease the bearings).

                Hello D.808,
it's a new build and motor is new and bike has been torqued to spec, it's raining here now can't test but I'm going to take my brake pads out and test to isolate further.

Hambini on youtube has fixed brand new bikes with brand new bottom brackets. So you just never know...

Ok, looks like it was my brake pads making the clunking sound under load. I took my pads out and test rode it and sound was gone, just want to let everyone know.
