Florida’s roadways are the deadliest in America for cyclists.

"Additionally, the AAA study showed that 36 percent of Florida cyclists do not wear helmets",- Helmet is not required for motorcycles here either. The ones w/o helmets also don't have lights, reflectors, or bells/horns either.

"56 percent of bicyclists ride in traffic"- That's what your "supposed" to do. Kudos to the 44% who don't! AAA doesn't know this!

21 percent of bicyclists ride against traffic – three-fourths of whom said that they did so because they prefer being able to see approaching automobiles.About the same percentage as drivers who ignore lanes, signals and any other rules here.

Sorry to see that, Retrorockit - where I live there's a lot of job-related growth, and the car density on the roads I ride is jumping dramatically. Add to this too many in-dash and in-hand toys, leading to very sloppy and careless driving. Cyclists can be guilty of this too, what with the onslaught of bar-mounted electronics, earbuds, and whatnot.

Tourists are in season here too. So a lot of lost drivers, many of whom may come form places where mass transit is the norm. Just add them into the local chaos around here, and stir.

not much better here in Indianapolis , hardly no one pays attention to the posted speed limits , on average 10-15 mph faster then posted , some even more.

They do that here speeding up to run the redlight at pedestrian crossings. Average 3 cars run the light before one stops. I have seen 6.
